Reich Resigns from Capital (Ohio) to Take SID Post at Mount Union (Ohio)

(ALLIANCE, Ohio)--Capital University sports information director Leonard Reich has resigned to take over as the sports information director at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.

"My family and I feel so blessed to have been a part of such a great place like Capital with so many great people," commented Reich. "We are also equally excited about new opportunities and become part of another great institution like Mount Union."

For the past eight years, Reich managed all facets of sports information for the Crusaders 18 Capital teams. He created, designed and maintained a comprehensive sports information website www.capitalcrusaders.net, helped originate game and event programming on the Internet and on the radio throughout Central Ohio, and upgraded the content and look of athletic publications.

Reich's career in sports began as an undergraduate at Georgia Southern University, where he was the equipment manager for the Eagle baseball team, along with being a sports official and supervisor in the campus recreation and intramural sports office. While a student he also worked at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, Georgia, as a member of the logistics crew for beach volleyball.

After graduating with a degree in sports management in 1997, the Erie, PA native spent the next year and a half as an intern in the athletic department at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, sports information director and intramural sports director at Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey and assistant information director for the Gulf South Conference in Birmingham, Alabama.

In 1998, Reich took his first job in the Buckeye state as the sports information director at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. While at Defiance he also called high school and college basketball games on the radio. He next served as the sports information director at Marian College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. While at Marian, Reich also arranged all of the travel needs of the athletic department, ran the school's website and was public relations director for the Midwest College Hockey Association.

"Leonard brings a keen knowledge of college athletics and brings a wealth of experience to Mount Union," said Harry Paidas, vice president for public affairs and marketing at Mount Union. "All of us at Mount Union are excited about what Leonard will bring to athletics and to the entire campus as a whole."

Reich, who will officially start at Mount Union on June 1, is married and he and his wife Helen have a daughter, Caroline Joy.
