Dodson Named Delaware State’s Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Director of Athletics Rick Costello announced today the hiring of Paul Dodson as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. Dodson will begin work at DSU on April 14.
Dodson, 33, will serve as the primary media and public relations contact for the Athletic Department as well as oversee the day-to-day media relations’ responsibilities for the school’s 18 intercollegiate sports.
“Paul brings a wealth of intercollegiate athletics experience to our department and will be an integral part of our team,” said Costello.
Prior to his appointment at DSU, Dodson spent three years as an assistant sports information director at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla. With the Bulls, he served as the primary contact for the baseball, men’s soccer and men’s basketball teams, while assisting with the football and women’s basketball programs. Dodson was also the host-institution contact for both the 2005 BIG EAST Men’s and Women’s Tennis Tournaments and the 2006 BIG EAST Baseball Championship.
Dodson spent nearly four seasons working in both Major League Soccer and the Women’s United Soccer Association. With the WUSA, he was the Manager of Sports Communications for the League office in Atlanta, Ga. During his time with MLS, Dodson served as the Coordinator, Media Relations with the Tampa Bay Mutiny.
A 1998 graduate of the University of Miami, Dodson began his career in athletics as an intern at both the University of Kansas (1998-99 school year) and USF (1999-2000 school year).
