COSIDA BOARD MINUTES
FEBRUARY 28, 2008

I. A proposal was made for CoSIDA to partner with a college alumni golf tournament. CoSIDA would receive sponsorship in exchange for SIDs helping provide information to their alumni offices on the events. There was a lengthy board discussion. It was determined that the proposal would need to be looked at further.

II. Second Vice President Justin Doherty gave an update on the Tampa Workshop social schedule. He said the social committee was on-track, making the appropriate contacts. He said sponsorship solicitations were out and he felt good about things.

III. First Vice President Nick Joos said the workshop program committee had a call last week.
He said they had talked to several potential panelists and said there would be at least two panels from the NCAA. He said they were looking at having Don Ranly do a writing session again. He said they were close to locking down the topics and panelists. He said they hoped to have things finalized by the first of March.

IV. Third Vice President Larry Dougherty said there were two weeks left to nominate for the Special Awards for 2008. He said a good number of nominations had been received.

V. Ed Carpenter said ESPN was committed to Monday night and would sponsor a reception in conjunction with the Academic All-America Hall of Fame ceremony. He said he had not received confirmation yet on sponsorship from the NBA or Sports Illustrated.

VI. There was discussion of an increase in the registration fee for the Tampa Workshop.
Lawrence Fan offered an alternate plan. After discussion, it was determined that:
* Non-member pre-registration increased from $100 to $250 and from $125 to $300 on site.
* Members and spouses pre-registered increased $25 across the board to $150.
The increase was approved unanimously.

VII. DigiPixArt would like to have someone from CoSIDA on its advisory board. Carpenter said he would contact Bob Lowe, chair of the technology committee to see if he would be interested.

VIII. He discussed a proposal from Meltwater News to monitor CoSIDA’s national publicity.
The board discussed it but said it was not interested at this time.

IX. Carpenter said he had received three entries for the CoSIDA logo contest. The deadline is April 1.

X. There was discussion of possible on-line registration for the CoSIDA Workshop. Jamie Joss said he would like to put the system in place and manage and coordinate it. He said a $5 fee would be added to register on-line to cover the credit card fee. No one was opposed to the idea.

XI. John Humeik asked that all board members email him their cell phone numbers. He asked College Division SIDs to send him any information on possible opportunities to represent CoSIDA at events like conference championships or league meetings of SIDs. He also asked each board member to email him three words that they feel describe people in our profession.
He asked board members to email him a list of things that they are passionate about within the organization.

The call was adjourned.
