Mitchell Named Sports Information Director at Thiel
GREENVILLE, Pa. – Ben Mitchell has been named Sports Information Director at Thiel College, Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students Roseanne Gill-Jacobson, announced Wednesday. He succeeds Kevin Fenstermacher who recently accepted another position at the College.
"We are fortunate to have someone with Ben's experience join the Tomcat team," said Gill-Jacobson. "I believe he will use his skills to further the athletic program by highlighting the achievements of our students. We are so pleased to have him with us."
A native of Homer City, Pa., Mitchell spent the last two years serving as Assistant Director of Athletic Communication at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pa. While at Saint Francis, he coordinated media relations efforts for several of the Red Flash's NCAA Division I teams including its prominent women's basketball program.
Prior to his appointment at Saint Francis, Mitchell held full-time positions in the Villanova University Office of Sports Marketing and in the College Football Hall of Fame's Archives and Collection Department in South Bend, Ind. He has also served part-time in various capacities in the athletic departments at the University of Notre Dame and Westminster College.
Mitchell has volunteered as track coach at Homer-Center High School, his alma mater, and has served as an assistant track coach in the Slippery Rock Area School District.
A 2006 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a double major in Sport Management and Communication, Mitchell also holds a Masters of Education from Saint Francis.
