Howard University's Mansfield Selected for NCAA Leadership Institute

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chevonne Mansfield, Assistant Sports Information Director at Howard University, is among the 23 athletics administrators and one of 10 women selected to participate in the 2008-09 NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females, as announced by the NCAA earlier this week.

A year-long commitment, Mansfield’s first of five sessions is June 27th-June 29th at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis. The four additional seminars will be held throughout the course of the year and will end on June 21-26, 2009.

The NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females, led by a diverse group of recognized leaders in business, higher education and intercollegiate athletics, was designed to address the critical shortage of senior-level administrators of color in athletics administrative staff at NCAA member institutions and conference offices.

The Institute prepares diverse leaders through a 12-month leadership training and skills development experience enhancing their job-related competencies in selected areas through completion of four professional development sessions, practical work and a week-long intensive workshop.
