COSIDA BOARD OFFICER’S CALL MINUTES
APRIL 21, 2008

President Charles Bloom took roll. Larry Dougherty and Ed Carpenter were not on the call.

I.                    Treasurer Dave Wohlhueter said 91 registrations had been received for the Tampa Workshop, which he said was typical for this time of year. Executive Director John Humenik asked if there was anything that needed to be done to get registration going. Wohlhueter noted that numerous room nights had been reserved at the workshop hotel and said the registrations should follow.

II.                 First Vice President Nick Joos said the workshop program was in good shape. He said Roy Pickerill was coordinating the Table Topics and would send him a list of those. Bloom said he would email Joos the file with the workshop schedule card on it.

III.               Wohlhueter said he would email Second Vice President Justin Doherty a list of the checks he has received for workshop sponsorship.

IV.              Doherty said the workshop golf event would be held at MacDill Air Force Base. There was discussion of a fee that could be charged to also cover transportation. He said the University of Tampa was working with him on transportation and also to try and secure a softball field. Doherty was told that Jim Stephan at South Alabama had helped coordinate the golf event in the past. Doherty said he would check back with MacDill to see if they have softball fields available.

V.                 Doherty asked for board help with making contacts for door prizes and breakfast sponsorships with contacts they might have with conferences, teams or organizations.

VI.              Humenik discussed sponsorship contacts with The Big 12 , Collegiate Images, Fox, CBS and the National Football Foundation.

VII.            There was discussion that finding sponsorship for the brunch was a priority.

VIII.         There was discussion of the Academic All-America Hall of Fame selections. The board felt it was not good having the selections made in April and felt it should be moved back to January. It was decided to ask Doug Dull to write the Hall of Fame scripts again. Humeik asked Doherty if the personnel at the University of Wisconsin that had produced the two previous Hall of Fame videos would be able to do so again and he said he would check.

IX.              Humenik said there had been a one hour call about the Strategic Plan on the previous Thursday. He said he planned to take a goal and email one per day or every few days and ask the board to provide comments, additions or deletions. He said the first review would be of the organizational and management structure.

The call was adjourned. The next call is May 8.
