Black College Sports Information Director’s Association Elects Officers

The Black College Sports Information Director’s  Association (BCSIDA) elected officers at its annual meeting in Tampa, FL.  Held in conjunction with the convention of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the BCSIDA meeting hosted 41 attendees and concluded with the election of a President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and Independent Representative to three-year terms ending in 2011.

Lincoln University Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information Rob Knox was elected President.

Belmont College Media Relations Director for Women’s Sports Kenisha Rhone was elected Vice President.

Kristene Kelly, Sports Information Director at Johnson C. Smith University, was elected Secretary-Treasurer and Scottie Rodgers, Associate Director of Communications for The Ivy League was elected Independent Representative.

These four individuals will be joined by Shera White, Director of Public Relations for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; Patricia Porter, Director of Media Relations for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference; Harry ‘Trae” Stinson, Director of Communications for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and William Bright, Director of Media Relations for the Southwestern Athletic Conference to form the BCSIDA Executive Board.

Eric Moore, Managing Editor of Onnidan’s HBCU Sports Online, serves as the organization’s executive director.

ABOUT BCSIDA:
Founded in 1984, the purpose of the organization is to bring together persons of professional interests who desire to further their professional standing, be helpful to one another, raise the standards and comply with the ethics of the sports information profession and increase opportunities for fellowship among athletics media relations professionals of color and sports information directors at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

The objective of BCSIDA is the preservation and promotion of intercollegiate athletics at HBCUs and the advancement of the careers of African-Americans in athletic media relations.
