Morris Named Assistant Director Of Sports Information At PC

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College Director of Sports Information and Game Operations Brian Hand announced the hiring of Caroline Morris as Assistant Director of Sports Information on Saturday, July 26.

Morris comes to PC after a one-year stint in the Athletic Communications office at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.

“I am extremely excited about Caroline joining the Blue Hose Sports Information office,” noted Hand. “Coming from a great institution such as Lafayette she truly understands what we are trying to accomplish at our great academic institution. She also brings a wealth of experience and that will help us tremendously as the PC athletic department continues its transition into NCAA Division I athletics.”

Morris served as the Athletic Communications Assistant at Lafayette for the entire 2007-08 school year. During her time with the Leopards, Morris served as the primary contact for cross country, fencing, track and field and women’s lacrosse. She also was the secondary contact for Lafayette’s nationally-recognized football program.

Morris was in charge of all aspects of the media guide process for the cross country/track and field and women’s lacrosse media guides. Morris also kept all the statistics for the men’s and women’s lacrosse games at Lafayette and she was also involved in Game Operations for football, field hockey, soccer and basketball.

Morris was in charge of writing game recaps and special releases for all four of her sports at Lafayette as well as for football. She also wrote special feature stories that were included in Lafayette and Patriot League GameDay programs.

She has also written features for the Lafayette alumni magazine and for Lafayette’s official athletic website, www.GoLeopards.com.

Prior to joining the Lafayette Athletic Communications and Marketing and Promotions Department, Morris served as a Media Relations Assistant as a student at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. from 2005-2007.

During her time at JMU, Morris wrote game stories and press releases for JMU’s official athletic website, www.JMUSports.com. She also helped in all facets of the SID office, including helping to keep track of statistics during football, soccer, field hockey, basketball and softball games.

Morris also helped to compile lists of records and player information for use in media guides at James Madison. She was also a sportswriter for James Madison’s student newspaper The Breeze during her time at the institution.

During the summer of 2006, Morris served as an intern at CNN Sports in Atlanta, Ga. During her time as an intern at CNN she shadowed anchors, producers, editors and assignment editors.

One year earlier during the summer of 2005, Morris worked for Coman Publishing in Durham, N.C. She helped Coman put out three publications for university athletics: The Wolverine (University of Michigan), The Wolfpacker (NC State) and Cavalier Corner (University of Virginia).

Morris wrote feature pieces for all three publications and helped with the copy-editing of all three.

Morris obtained her undergraduate degree in 2007 from James Madison. She was a dual major with a Media Arts and Design, Print Journalism Concentration degree and an Art History degree.
