Coastal Carolina University Names Kemps and Warner Athletic Media Relations Assistants
CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina University has named Scott Kemps and Kim Warner as Athletic Media Relations Assistants for the 2008-09 year, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations John Martin announced today. Their appointments are effective immediately.
Kemps, who will have primary responsibilities for men's soccer, women's track and cross-country, and softball, joins the staff from Kutztown University, where he was the primary contact for the women's lacrosse team, while assisting with the nationally-ranked baseball and softball squads.
Kemps is a 2007 graduate of Lock Haven University, where he was a served as assistant contact for the 2006 NCAA Division II National Championship softball team, and served as the radio broadcaster at the 2006 NCAA Division II Softball Championships in Akron, Ohio. While at the Haven, he also worked alongside the nationally-ranked men's soccer, wrestling and women's lacrosse squads, and assisted on game-day duties for field hockey, football and basketball. Kemps stayed active as a four-year starter on the lacrosse team, and served as the team's vice president for three seasons.
Warner, who will serve as the main contract for volleyball, women's basketball, men's tennis, and men's cross country/track and field, comes to Coastal Carolina after spending the past two years at Central Michigan University as a graduate assistant with the Physical Education department. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports administration from CMU.
Prior to CMU, Warner was the media relations intern with the Toronto Raptors (2005-06) and the sports information assistant at the University of Toronto (2004-05). As the sports information assistant at UT, she covered various sports including basketball, soccer, hockey, rugby, volleyball and baseball.
Warner earned her bachelor's in psychology in 2004 from George Washington University, where she was a four-year letterwinner (1999-2003) for the Colonials. She finished her career with 41 goals and 91 points, placing her third all-time in both categories in school history.
