Bill Thomas Named Capital University Sports Information Director

COLUMBUS, Ohio  - Bill Thomas has been named the new Sports Information Director at Capital University.

Thomas, a 2001 graduate of Susquehanna (Pa.) University, comes to Capital after spending four years at the University of Dayton. Thomas was an assistant director of athletics communication with the Flyers, where he was the primary contact for the women's volleyball, women's basketball and baseball teams. Thomas was named the AVCA Grant Burger Northeast Region SID of the Year during his tenure at Dayton, and also served as a media coordinator for NCAA tournament events and as the tournament manager for the first and second rounds of the 2007 NCAA volleyball tournament.

Prior to working at Dayton, Thomas spent three years as a sports information assistant at Xavier University, where he served as the primary contact for volleyball and baseball and a secondary contact for the men's and women's basketball team.

As an undergraduate student at Susquehanna, Thomas played football and lacrosse and was the primary media contact for five athletic teams and the secondary contact for the football and basketball teams.

“We are pleased to have Bill join the Capital athletics staff," said Dawn Mamula, Capital's director of athletics. "Bill comes to Capital not only with a great deal of professional experience but also an appreciation for the Division III environment. I am confident he will work diligently to represent the university, athletic programs, and student athletes well.”

Thomas will officially begin working at Capital on Aug. 18.
