Kristofak Named Sun Belt Conference Director of Media Relations
NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced today the hiring of Melissa Kristofak as the league’s Director of Media Relations.
“This is a very positive step forward for the league,” said Sun Belt Commissioner Wright Waters. “Melissa brings an understanding of a number of issues that will serve the league well as we move forward.”
Kristofak will serve as the Sun Belt’s primary media contact for numerous sports and will oversee media operations at league events and championships. The Virginia Beach, Va. native will also help oversee the Sun Belt Conference’s official website, www.sunbeltports.org, and annual league publications.
Kristofak comes to the Sun Belt after spending the last year at B2 Networks, a recognized leader in broadband broadcasting. At B2 Kristofak served as the liaison between the company and more than 300 professional and collegiate teams.
Prior to her time spent at B2 Networks, Kristofak served as the Director of Athletic Public Relations at Virginia Commonwealth University from July 2005 to June 2007. She also served as the Assistant Director of Media Relations at VCU from July 2004-05. At VCU, Kristofak was primarily responsible for proactively seeking regional and national exposure for all 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic teams and for nearly 300 student-athletes. This exposure worked in conjunction with VCU's branding campaign, "Building Pride. One Victory at a Time."
Kristofak also worked as the Interim Assistant Media Relations Director at Longwood University and as a Sports Information Student Assistant at the University of Florida.
Kristofak earned her Bachelors Degree in English and Journalism from Randolph-Macon College and earned a Masters of Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Florida.
