CoSIDA announces ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Teams for football & women's volleyball

The 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Teams for football and women's volleyball have been selected. There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII programs) for each sport and members are selected for First Team, Second Team and Third Team honors.

Three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with those student-athletes on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America
® consideration.

PLEASE NOTE: CoSIDA members with student-athletes on the Academic All-District first-team in football and women's volleyball should log back in to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Web site to update their nominees statistics and supporting data for inclusion on the Academic All-America® ballot. The deadline for updating nominations is noon, Eastern Time, on Mon., Nov. 9.

Last week, the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Teams in men's and women's soccer were announced.


Nominations and voting for the Academic All-America
® programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

To be nominated for all-district honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. In the cases of transfers, graduate students and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.

This release concludes the fall portion of the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America program. The next nominations will be in early January for men's and women's basketball honors.
