Williams College SID Dick Quinn to be inducted into New England Basketball Hall of Fame

KINGSTON, RI - Williams College Assistant Director of Public Affairs and SID Dick Quinn will be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame on October 9th. Quinn joins Williams basketball alums Jim Frew ’99 and Dave Paulsen ’87, the 2003 Williams men’s basketball team, as inductees into this elite Hall of Fame.

Paulsen is being honored for his coaching career at Williams (2001-08), while Frew will be inducted as an Eph player. Both Paulsen and Frew played for current Eph Athletic Director Harry Sheehy and Paulsen also served as an assistant to Sheehy at Williams.

Quinn is being inducted in the Media category and is the first Division III SID so honored. Quinn, entering his 21st year at Williams serves as an Assistant Director of Public Affairs and the SID for the 32 varsity teams Williams fields.

The Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT is the site of this year’s induction dinner and ceremony. Tickets for the event are on sale on line for $125 each and can be ordered here.

The New England Basketball Hall of Fame is located in Kingston, RI on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.

“Dick has done a wonderful job at Williams and is truly deserving of this honor,” noted Sheehy. “His passion for our student-athlete experience is unrivaled and his ability to communicate our message and mission, in such a clear and concise manner, is a great gift to the Williams community and our community at large. I am happy for and proud of my colleague and friend.”

“I view this as a team award,” Quinn said. “It is the result of having had a stellar group of student sports information assistants over the years and the yeomen efforts of assistant SID Kris Dufour. It is a privilege to watch the quality student-athletes at Williams compete under the tutelage of coaches who love and respect them.”
