ATHENS, Ohio -- Franklin D. Morgan, long-time Sports Information Director at Ohio University, passed away on the evening of September 20.

Morgan served as Ohio's SID from 1963-1993.

According to his son, Mike Morgan, who posted the following on the Ohio University Alumni Association Facebook page, "My father was honored to have worked and cheered for the Bobcats many years of his life. Just seconds before his death at O'Bleness (Memorial Hospital), our Ohio football team must have scored because fireworks went off and were heard in his room. We like to believe it was timed perfectly for a great school and our beloved father."

Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Bigony-Jordan funeral home in Albany, Ohio. The funeral home address: 5258 Washington Road Albany, OH 45710;

The funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 24 at 11 am at the St. Zalesky Church, Zalesky, Ohio, followed by buriel services.
