Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest historical results
For the second time in four years, Jerry Price of Princeton University has taken top honors in the CoSIDA Fred S. Stabley Sr. Writing Contest.
Price took first place with his piece about a 1940s lacrosse student-athlete, who became a war hero and has a field named in his honor on campus. Price also took first place in 2007.
“Jerry Price crafted a beautiful narrative about Tyler Campbell the athlete, the soldier and, most importantly, the person,” commented one of the national judges. “Jerry Price had me on the edge of my seat reading about an athlete who died 66 years ago. The reporting and the storytelling are nothing short of spectacular.”
