CoSIDA Members:
The nomination forms for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® men's and women's at-large programs are now available!
All nominations for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® program must be done online through the CoSIDA web site. Nominations will be accepted only from current CoSIDA members, and members may nominate student-athletes only from their own institution.
The at-large program includes the following sports: women’s bowling, women’s crew, men’s and women’s fencing, women’s field hockey, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s rifle, men’s and women’s skiing, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, men’s and women’s water polo, and men’s wrestling.
To nominate student-athlete(s) for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® program, visit the Academic All-America® web page at
http://www.cosida.com/aa and log in with your CoSIDA user name and password.
If you do not have your user name and profile, click the link next to "Forget your login information?" and your user information will be sent to the e-mail address that appears in the CoSIDA directory.
The online system automatically pulls in your institution, district (I-VIII) and division (University or College) from the CoSIDA database. Members nominating from multi-divisional institutions (those whose teams are Division I in some sports and not others) must manually override the division selection when applicable. (e.g., Scenic College’s teams primarily compete in Division III, save for two teams that compete in Division I. The online system will pull in College Division for all of Scenic College’s nominations, but the Scenic College SID must manually change the division to University Division for nominations from the sports which compete in Division I).
Completing most of the rest of the nomination form is a matter of choosing the sport and position and filling in the blanks. There is a data field for additional supporting nomination which is limited to 500 characters. This data can be copied and pasted from other applications.
When finished with the nomination form, hit "submit" and the system will e-mail a receipt for the nomination. Make sure to save this confirmation e-mail, as it contains a unique ID number which will assist in troubleshooting if necessary.
Repeat as necessary.
The nomination deadline for the At-Large sports category is 6 p.m., Eastern Time, on Tuesday, May 4 , but don't wait until the last minute!
REMINDERS
The nominee must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in BOTH undergrad and graduate work. This MAY NOT be rounded up to 3.30 — thus, a student-athlete with a 3.299 GPA is not eligible. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better both as an undergrad AND in graduate school. For example, a student-athlete with GPAs of 3.0 in undergraduate work and 3.9 in graduate school would not be eligible, even if the average of the two combined was above 3.30.
Nominees must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at your institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one academic year at your institution.
Nominees must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.
In the at-large program, nominations are limited to three per school. Thus, each institution may nominate a total of three men’s at-large candidates and three women’s at-large candidates. If an institution participates in both the college and the university divisions, it may nominate a total of three men and three women between the two divisions. There is no limit to the number of candidates that may be nominated in a particular sport.
