CoSIDA Partners with Executive Sports Search Firm Eclaro Sports

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization has announced a partnership with Eclaro Sports, a full executive search services company, to assist sports communications professionals in moving forward in their careers.

Eclaro, the parent company of Eclaro Sports (www.eclarosports.com), has been a leader in executive search services for more than a decade, and has over 1.5 million resumes in its comprehensive database.

Eclaro Sports, based in New York City, draws on the experience of its executive team as it handles executive search for colleges, working primarily with non-BCS schools.

The plan, still in early development, is for Eclaro Sports to develop a centralized, confidential database of sports communications professionals, with the goal of having the database greatly assist athletic directors - and key hiring managers in the corporate world - find the right candidate for their communications leadership positions. For sports communications professionals, the Eclaro Sports database will aid them in finding opportunities where their communications skills and experience can be best utilized and most appreciated in the collegiate, professional sports and corporate world.

“We are pleased to partner with Eclaro Sports, and provide another service and benefit to our CoSIDA membership,” said Larry Dougherty, 2010-11 CoSIDA President. “Eclaro Sports will provide a needed service that is affordable for all levels of college athletics. The real beneficiaries will be the sports communications professionals who want to participate in this confidential job search service and move their careers on an upward track.”

Use of this service by CoSIDA members would strictly be on a volunteer and confidential basis. The Eclaro Sports database is a totally confidential service, and is not an online resume resource.

The goal would be for Eclaro Sports to contact athletic directors and hiring managers when sports communications positions open to identify the best available candidates for their institution or company. The AD would provide the necessary position qualifications and qualities they are seeking, and Eclaro Sports would carefully review the database to find a number of suitable candidates. It would contact each potential candidate to find out whether there is interest in a particular job, and if there is, their contact information would be passed on to the hiring party.

“We are very excited to help the professionals that make up the CoSIDA organization,” said Jay Williams, Vice President of Eclaro Sports and a former active member of CoSIDA. “We feel that we can be advocates for these sports communications experts, as is already being done for their coaches and athletic directors. Through our database, we can help them in reaching their career goals.”

“The communications-based profession at the intercollegiate level has never been more demanding,” said John Humenik, CoSIDA’s Executive Director. “It is important for both our professionals and the intercollegiate community at large that a system such as this be put into place to assist each of those parties in identifying and evaluating potential career opportunities that result in a positive experience for both. Eclaro Sports is attempting to do this for the first time with-in the communications-based profession and we are excited about partnering with them on this new venture.”
