2010-11 CoSIDA Board of Directors Primary Responsibilities and Coordinating Roles
Officers
President- Larry Dougherty (Temple)
• Conducts Board of Directors and officers meetings
• Develops agendas for meetings with Executive Director
• Works closely with Executive Director in developing topics/issues that need/should be discussed with BOD and/or officers
• BOD liaison with Executive Director
• Chair of the annual convention at Marco Island
• Works closely with Executive Director in establishing priorities/initiatives
• Works with Executive Director to develop specific strategic goals and objectives for the upcoming year
• Organizational spokesperson when appropriate
• Works with chairs for both the University and College Division Management Advisory Committees
• Works with Executive Director and Director of External Affairs to prepare a monthly newsletter to the membership that recaps Board and divisional leadership activities over the course of each month
• Writes/coordinates “CoSIDA Corner” column that appears in NACDA’s Athletics Administration magazine
• Assigned fund raising responsibilities
• Coordinates review/discussion of a possible accreditation program for the organization and membership
• Works with John Humenik and Dave Wrath with regard to various aspects of the Academic All-America program as BOD liaisons with that committee
• Coordinates the agenda for board meetings at the Marco Island Convention
First VP- Tom DiCamillo (Pacific West Conference)
• Works with national two-year organizations to develop better working relationships and partnerships
• Coordinates efforts to help develop a two-year institution national management organization for communications and information directors
• Coordinates efforts to generate more interest among the two-year community in becoming members of CoSIDA
• Coordinates efforts to make the two-year institutions aware of the expansion of the AAA program that enables that group of schools to have a much higher likelihood of AAA selection
• Provides input to 2nd VP with regard to various programming aspects for the Marco Island Convention
• Works with President and Executive Director on conducting daily business
• Assists President and Executive Director with putting together agenda for scheduled meetings
• Coordinates Board meetings if the President is not able to participate
• Assists with putting together the agenda for Board meetings at the Marco Island Convention
• Board liaison with Social Committee
• Develops a specific list of initiatives for Presidential year in 2011-12 that will be presented to the Board for review, discussion and approval at the Marco Island convention
• Provides appropriate content for website
• Assigned fund raising responsibilities
• Works with Executive Director, Director of External Affairs and Social Committee relative to social based events for the Marco Island Convention
• Works with Social Committee to make sure that that group handles security matters for all meal and social based functions at the convention
Second VP- Joe Hornstein (Central Florida)
• Oversees the full development of the master composite schedule for the annual convention that the CoSIDA convention staff and hotel staff will use for varied planning purposes
• Oversees the full development and printing of the convention pocket schedule that is provided to all attendees
• Liaison with the Workshop Program Committee
• Oversees the development and scheduling of all seminars, presentations, panels and meetings for the annual convention
• Works closely with Barb Kowal as it relates to scheduling, room setup and a/v needs for convention
• Works with John Humenik, Barb Kowal and Tom DiCamillo with regard to the development of the social event agenda for the Marco Island convention
• Work with John Humenik and Barb Kowal relative to event setups and signage
• Coordinate assigned specific fund-raising duties and responsibilities
• Develops and coordinates a State//Local Organizing Committee for Marco Island Convention
• Provide appropriate programming information/content for convention website
• Part of the “Transition Team” that is being put into place as it relates to the CoSIDA convention becoming part of the NACDA Convention in Orlando in 2013
Third VP- Shelly Poe (Ohio State)
• Coordinates all aspects of CoSIDA’s continuing education and professional development initiatives throughout the 2010-11 academic year prior to the annual convention in June ‘11
• Develops and promotes a continuing education and professional development schedule for the 2010-11 academic year
• Works with members of the Board, CoSIDA committees, divisional leadership groups and membership to determine relevant continuing education and professional development sessions that are conducted via webinar or conference call format
• Works with various groups and individuals outside of the organization to determine their interest in developing and putting on continuing education and professional development sessions over the course of the year for the benefit of CoSIDA membership
• Provides input to 2nd VP on possible programming and panel sessions for the Marco Island convention
• Board liaison with FAME (Female Athletic Media Relations Executives)
• Work with CoSIDA’s New Media and Technology Committee to generate ideas for continuing education sessions
• Work with CoSIDA’s Programming Committee to generate ideas for continuing education sessions
• Assigned fund raising responsibilities
• Provide appropriate content for website with regard to continuing education programs
• Work with Director of External Affairs with regard to coordinating the technical aspects of conference calls and webinars for continuing education sessions
• Work with Director of External Affairs to market and promote CoSIDA’s overall continuing education and professional development programs as well as all of the specific sessions to be presented.
• Works with Justin Doherty on initiative to increase participation of DI membership within CoSIDA and increase DI attendance at the CoSIDA convention
Past President- One Year Removed (Justin Doherty- Wisconsin)
• Advisor to President and Executive Director
• Coordinates initiatives to improve participation and leadership within the Division I membership of CoSIDA
• Coordinates initiatives to improve attendance of Division membership at the annual convention
• Work with Charles Bloom on University Division Management Advisory Committee matters
• Board liaison with FBS-SIDA organization
• Coordinate mentoring program for new appointees to the 2010-11 Board
• Work with Anne Abicht to put together a orientation manual that will be provided to all new appointees to the 2011-12 Board of Directors
• Coordinating role with Hall of Fame Gala ceremony at Marco Island convention as it relates to video presentations
• Work with respective CoSIDA staff and committees to get appropriate copy/ video//photos for video production that is presented at Hall of Fame Gala event in Marco Island.
Past President- Two Years Removed (Nick Joos- Baylor)
• Advisor to President and Executive Director
• Coordinate, with Treasurer and Executive Director, the development of additional fiscal-based charts/reports that would assist the Board in evaluating financial matters
• Work with Treasurer and Executive Director to develop a “operational year fiscal report” and proposed budget process
• Work with Treasurer and Executive Director to develop a 2010-11 budget for Board approval
• Work with Treasurer and Executive Director to develop 2011 Marco Island convention budget for Board approval

• Coordinate getting Board of Directors monthly membership newsletter and Executive Director monthly summaries to Past Presidents group

• Develops and coordinates ideas for programming sessions for SACC at the Marco Island convention
Past President- Three Years Removed (Charles Bloom- Southeastern Conference)
• Advisor to President and Executive Director
• Chair and Board liaison with University Division Management Advisory Committee
• Works with Executive Director to finalize a Division I management structure including the creation of three specific divisional groups within Division I; FBS-SIDA, FCS-SIDA, DI-AAA SID.
• Oversight responsibilities with the Special Awards Committee Chair- Tam Flarup- as it relates to nomination and selection process for such awards at the Marco Island convention
• Oversight and coordinating role with regard to the Nominating Committee process for the 2011 Marco Island convention
• Work with Tam Flarup (University of Wisconsin) - Chair of Special Awards Committee - to put together a detailed timeline that assures that all aspects of the CoSIDA special awards and Hall of Fame programs are handled in a detailed and timely matter to meet various needs
• Oversight and coordinating role with regard to releases/stories being prepared on 2011 CoSIDA award honorees
• Oversight and coordinating role to make sure appropriate copy of award recipients is prepared for 2011 printed convention program
• Coordinate awards program at Marco Island convention
• Work with Tam Flarup to make sure that all award plaques are completed and delivered to Marco Island in time for convention
• Coordinate getting copy, video, photos, etc. for video production of CoSIDA Hall of Famers for Hall of Fame Gala event at the convention

Treasurer - Dave Wohlhueter
• Serves as organization’s Chief Financial Officer
• Works closely with Executive Director to provide appropriate financial and budget based information for review with BOD
• Works with Nick Joos regarding budgetary process for 2010-11 year and 2011 Marco Island convention
• Coordinates all organization financial and audit-based reports for IRS requirements
• Organizational liaison with CPA firm
• Responsible for coordinating various aspects of the annual convention (registration process advance and on-site, room reservations for officers, luncheons, set-up Sponsor/Past Presidents Dinner, meal planning for all events, hotel guarantees, overseeing convention office during the week of event)
• Works closely with Barb Kowal and John Humenik on various aspects of convention coordination.
• Coordinates membership-dues and renewal process
• Works with organization’s legal firm to coordinate various reports and projects.
• Coordinate/respond relative to daily emails, calls and correspondence with questions about the organization from members, regarding membership, the website, directory, etc. Make updates to the on-line directory as needed or requested.

• Organization’s and BOD’s recording secretary
• Edit and coordinate all aspects of the E- Digest with Barb Kowal

• Works with Barb Kowal to prepare appropriate editorial content for website
• Assists Dave and Barb with membership-based aspects
• Assists Dave and Barb with membership dues and renewal process
• Coordinate/respond relative to daily emails, calls and correspondence with questions about the organization from members, the public, etc. regarding membership, the website, directory, etc.

• Coordinate a effort with Special Awards Committee/leadership/Past Presidents Group / other members of the Board to compile a list of Distinguished Alumni (include a short bio sketch of each). This list would be helpful in updating our membership of folks who not only have achieved within our ranks but would include those from our group that have gone on to become AD’s, conference commissioners, TV and bowl executives, etc.

• Coordinates the complete management and operations for the organization’s website in conjunction with Sidearm Sports- CoSIDA’s web management provider.
• Coordinates – with Jeff Hodges- the organization’s membership data information system
