• Topics Discussed

· What are some of the major communications-based issues facing collegiate athletics?

· What are solutions for dealing with these issues?

· What are the expectations of today's communications directors and ADs in terms of developing specific strategies and tactics for dealing with communications based issues, challenges and opportunities?

· How can today's communications staffs help educate athletic directors and their senior staff about communications-related issues?

· Discuss the importance of communications directors attending continuing education conventions, and discuss what we can do jointly to get them get their staffs to understand and attend.

Questions raised during the call by CoSIDA members:

· Fans still look at school or conference websites as non-objective sources of information - posting "puff pieces" on their programs. How do we confront this?

· How do ADs and athletic communicators deal with the reality of essentially always being "on the record" and visible 24/7? How do we keep our student-athletes from becoming totally gun shy when facing the media, fans, etc. because of this?
