y headline the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II basketball teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A forward for the Falcons, Battista has been selected as the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year for Division II Women’s Basketball while Foster has been named the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year for Division II Men’s Basketball.
The Capital One Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2013-14 D-II Academic All-America teams program.

All-America® last year and a second-team selection as a sophomore. The North Easton, Mass., native is Bentley’s all-time leading scorer with 1,899 points. The two-time WBCA Division II All-America choice leads the number one-ranked and undefeated Falcons (23-0) in scoring (17.2) and field goal percentage (.599). She earned a gold medal while starting for the Team USA Maccabiah Games squad in Israel last July. Earlier this year she was named the Preseason Division II Player of the Year by Women’s Division II Bulletin.
Battista is concluding an outstanding career while leading Bentley to a 112-11 record during her four seasons. That includes three Northeast-10 championships and trips to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 2011 and 2012. She is a two-time recipient of the NE-10 Sport Excellence Scholar-Athlete Award for women’s basketball and a three-time All-NE-10 honoree, including first team in 2012 and 2013.
As a junior, Battista led Bentley to a 30-2 finish while leading the Falcons in scoring (14.9 ppg) and ranking second in rebounding (6.7 rpg). She was a WBCA Division II All-American for the second straight year and a second team Women’s Division II Bulletin All-American.
She led Bentley in both scoring (16.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg) as a sophomore and was named the NE-10 Player of the Year while earning WBCA, Women’s Division II Bulletin and Daktronics All-America honors. As a freshman she averaged 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds, landing a spot on the Women’s Division II
Bulletin All-Freshman Team.
Foster (right), a business and management systems major with a 3.89 G.P.A., ranks second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in scoring, averaging 21.6 ppg, 13th in Division II. A 6-foot-4 guard/forward from Florissant, Mo., he ranks second on the Miners in rebounding (7.0 rpg), adding 50 assists, 28 steals and 14 blocked shots. He is shooting 48.2 percent from the floor (162-of-336), including a team-high 56 3-pointers in 163 attempts (34.4 pct.), and has made 117-of-142 free throws (82.4 pct.).
Foster has scored 20-or-more points in 14 contests, including a career-high 36 points against Truman State University. Foster has recorded eight double-doubles this year and is one of only eight players in NCAA Division II to record a triple-double this season, which was the first in school history. He has led the Miners in scoring 12 times. He is the leading active scorer in the GLVC with 1,596 career points, good for fourth place on Missouri S&T’s all-time scoring charts. He also stands second in career games played (109), third in career field goals made (568), and fifth in career 3-pointers made (187).
The son of Greg Foster, the silver medalist in the 110-meter hurdles at the 1984 Summer Olympics and a world record holder in the hurdles, he has enjoyed an illustrious career for the Miners. He led the team in scoring as a freshman and sophomore at 13.0 and 14.9 points per game, respectively. As a junior in 2011-12 he dropped to 10.5 points a game, good for second on the team. A year ago he averaged 13.2 points over the first six games before missing the rest of the season with an injury.
Capital One Academic All-America® Women’s Basketball Division II Team
Twelve of the 15 members of the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II women’s basketball teams have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with four student-athletes sporting a perfect 4.00 GPA. The five members of the first team have an average G.P.A. of 3.95.
Clarion University of Pennsylvania junior forward
Hannah Heeter is four-time Capital One Academic All-America® with two selections each in volleyball and basketball. She won the Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II volleyball in December. This year’s first team nod supplements her second-team choice last season. On the hardwood, Heeter is Clarion’s leading scorer (14.2 ppg), rebounder (12.1 rpg) and shooter (53.7 percent). A pre-med/biology major with a 3.96 G.P.A., the Seneca, Pa., native has 42 career double-doubles with 13 this season.
A senior forward from Searcy, Ark., Harding University’s Kristen Celsor is a two-time Capital One Academic All-America® choice as she was named to the third team last year. Celsor and her HU teammates clinched a share of the Great American Conference regular season title last week. She averages 17.3 points and 7.1 rebounds for the sixth-ranked Lady Bisons. Celsor is a communication sciences and disorders major with a 3.91 G.P.A.

Milster sports a perfect 4.00 G.P.A. with a business administration major. The Washington, Okla., native is averaging 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Crimson Storm.
German, who was named the Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Academic All-America® of the Year in 2012-13, and her Flames’ teammates are in first place in the Gulf South Conference. German is Lee’s scorer with her 24.0 points per game. A mathematics and secondary education major with a 3.95 G.P.A., the Old Fort, Tenn., native passed the 2,000 career-point plateau in a road victory at Valdosta State University Feb. 1.

Capital One Academic All-America® Men’s Basketball Division II Team
Three other seniors join Foster as first team Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men’s Basketball team members,

Austin Armga of Michigan Technological University, and Seattle Pacific’s
David Downs. The fifth member of the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men’s Basketball first team is junior
Trey Casey of Christian Brothers University.
The five members of the Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men’s Basketball first team have an average G.P.A. of 3.884.
Dentlinger is now a three-time Capital One Academic All-America® after earning first-team honors for the second straight year. The Omaha, Neb. native was a second-team selection in 2012. He is a business and technology major with a 3.95 G.P.A.
A 6-6 senior forward, he is a two-time All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference first team pick who has helped the Lopers to a 12-10 record with seven straight wins. He is third on the team in scoring (14.5 ppg), along with ranking third in rebounding (4.9 rpg) and shooting 63.6 percent from the floor.
He topped the 1,000-point mark earlier in the season and now has 1,219 career points. As a junior, he averaged 12.2 points and 4.8 rebounds, after averaging a team-leading 14.9 points with 5.6 rebounds as a sophomore. He was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year and was a Division II Freshman All-American in 2010-11 after averaging 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds, both team highs.
Downs also earned Capital One Academic All-America® honors a year ago, moving up from the third team to the first team this year. A senior accounting major with a 3.80 G.P.A., he comes off a career-high 36-point scoring effort against Western Washington University, helping the 15th-ranked Falcons to their 11th-straight win. Seattle Pacific is now 22-4.
A 6-2 guard from Kirkland, Wash., Downs has moved into fourth place in career scoring with 1,655 career points. He also stands third all-time in assists with 538. He is averaging a team-leading 19.3 points and also has a team-high 120 assists with just 50 turnovers. An outstanding shooter, he has made 137-of-263 field goals (52.1 pct.), 67-of-134 3-pointers (50.0 pct.), and 141-of-164 free throws (86.0 pct.). The 2013-14 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year, he was a 2013 Division II Bulletin All-American. He is also a two-time All-GNAC first team honoree.
Armga is a 6-3 guard from Waupun, Wis. who has led Michigan Tech to an 18-5 record. He is averaging a team-high 23.3 points, good for ninth in Division II, and also pulls down a team-high 4.8 rebounds. He is shooting 52.7 percent from the floor (184-of-349), with 14 3-pointers in 40 attempts, and has made 153-of-178 free throw attempts (86.0 pct.).
An exercise science major with a 3.78 G.P.A., Armga has scored 1,376 career points to move into 13th place in career scoring. As a junior he averaged 12.5 points for the Huskies while leading the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in free throw percentage at 92.4 percent (85-of-92). He ranked second on the team in scoring as a sophomore (11.1 ppg).
Casey owns a perfect 4.00 G.P.A. as a business administration major. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he is averaging a team-leading 19.1 points per game, helping the Bucs to a 13-8 record. The 6-3 guard adds 5.6 rebounds per game and team-high 44 steals. He is shooting 52.1 percent from the floor (138-of-265), with 53 3-pointers in 130 attempts, and hits 80.0 percent from the line (52-of-65).
As a sophomore Casey was named the Gulf South Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after averaging 21.3 points during the tourney. He ended the year averaging 12.5 points.
