Chiney Ogwumike of Stanford University lead the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of Am
erica (CoSIDA).
A nutrition (pre-med) major with a 3.93 G.P.A., Craft as led the Buckeyes to a #22 national ranking and
a 20-6 record. The 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year earned the same honor last year.
He is only the third Division I men’s basketball player to earn the honor in back-to-back years
. Alec Kessler of Georgia earned the honor in 1989 and 1990 while Matt Bonner of Florida was the Academic All-America® of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
An international relations major with a 3.46 G.P.A., Ogwumike earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-America® Women’s Basketball Division I first team for the second time. A native of Cypress, Texas, she is a National Player of the Year candidate and was the 2012-13 Pacific-12 Player of the Yea
r.
A three-time selection to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I first team,
Craft (right) is averaging 9.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the Buckeyes. The Findlay, Ohio native is a three-time All-Big Ten Conference selection. He was also named as the 2013 Big Ten Conference Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after leading the Buckeyes to the championship.
Ranked 10th in the nation in steals, he is already Ohio State’s all-time leader in steals (313) and assists (650). A three-time semifinalist for the Bob Cousy Award, he was named as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year last season. He has also been a three-time member of the Big Ten All-Defensive Team.
Most recently, he was named to the Allstate NABC Good Works Team®. In his career, he has scored 1,218 points and 451 rebounds.

er career. A native of Cypress, Texas, Ogwumike is a national player of the year candidate and was the 2012-13 Pac-12 Player of the
Year.
Ogwumike has led the Cardinal to three-straight Pac-12 championships and two trips to the NCAA Final Four. She broke the Pac-12’s career rebounding record earlier this season and now has 1,437 rebounds. She is also the third-leading scorer in Pac-12 history with 2,458 points.
While leading No. 5 Stanford to a 24-2 record, Ogwumike is averaging 26.5 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. She also has a .636 field goal percentage. She has scored 20 or more points in 20 games this season and has 11 30-point games. She is the nation’s third-leading scorer, ranks eighth in rebounding and third in field goal percentage. She is the only player in the country to rank in the top 10 in all three categories.
As a senior, she has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week a conference-record seven times. Her 16 career Player of the Week awards are also a Pac-12 record.
Ogwumike was also the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year the last two seasons and was tabbed the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2010-11. She has earned a spot on the all-Pac-12 team three straight years.

Brayden Carlson of South Dakota State University,
Melvin Ejim of Iowa State University and
J.J. Mann of Belmont University join graduate student
Drew Crawford of Northwestern University round out the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I men’s basketball first team.
An economics major with a 3.94 G.P.A., Carlson has played the point guard position at South Dakota State. A native of Brookings, S.D., he has led the Jackrabbits to a 16-10 record and an 8-3 mark in the Summit League. Carlson has guided the Jackrabbits to back-to-back Summit League championships. While averaging 15.0 points and 2.7 assists per game, he became the 45th member of the 1,000-point club at SDSU and has scored 1,036 points in his career.
A graduate student who earned his degree in economics with a 3.31 G.P.A., Crawford was a second team Capital One Academic All-America® selection in 2011-12. He is currently working on his Master’s degree in sport administration and has a 3.94 graduate G.P.A. A native of Naperville, Ill., Crawford was honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2012. Two years ago, he was named third team All-Big Ten. A member of the Allstate NABC Good Works Team,® he leads the Wildcats in scoring (15.6) and rebounds (6.8). In his career, he scored 1,809 points with 218 three-pointers and 679 rebounds.
A history major with a 3.70 G.P.A., Ejim has guided No. 17 Iowa State to a 20-5 record. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Ejim is on the Naismith Award Midseason Top 30. A two-time All-Big 12 Conference selection, he was the winner of the inaugural Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year award in 2013. He leads the Big 12 with 19.1 points per game and ranks second with 8.6 rebounds per game. A four-year starter at forward, he has 1,478 points and 963 rebounds in his career.
An economics major with a 3.51 G.P.A. , Mann leads Belmont in scoring with an 18.0 average.. A three-year starter, Mann has led the Bruins to a 20-8 record and 11-2 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference. A native of Smyrna, Ga., Mann leads the Bruins with an 18.0 scoring average and has scored 1,354 points in his career. He has been part of three consecutive OVC championship teams and he chosen for the Allstate NABC Good Works Team® in 2013. Mann is the 11th Academic All-America® selection from Belmont since 2000-01.
The five members of the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I men’s basketball first team have an average G.P.A. of 3.68.

Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Women's Basketball Team
Joining Ogwumike on the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Women’s Basketball first team are two seniors who were named to the second team last season,
Amanda Hyde from Indiana University-Purdue Fort Wayne and
Rachel Tecca of the University of Akron. Senior
Kody Burke of North Carolina State University was named to the first team after earning third team notice last year.
Eilise O’Connor of University of Missouri-Kansas City completes the first team.
The five members of the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I women’s basketball first team have an average G.P.A. of 3.85.
A three-year starter at forward, Hyde is a mathematics major with a 3.97 G.P.A. at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne. The Findlay, Ohio native is averaging a career-high 21.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this year. Named as the Summit League Player of the Year in 2012-13, she was also named first team All-Summit League when she averaged 18.6 points per game. Earlier this season, she became just the seventh player in IPFW history to score 1,500 career points, She ranks sixth in school history with 1,535 points.
A management major with a 3.89 G.P.A., Tecca was honored as the 2013 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year. A two-time All-MAC first team selection, she averaged 18.5 points per game while leading the Zips to a program-best 23-10 record. A senior forward from Tallmadge, Ohio, she has led Akron to a 15-8 record this season, including an eight-game winning streak. While averaging 23.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, she became only the second player in MAC history to reach 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
A business administration major with a 3.93 G.P.A., Burke is a 6-2 forward who has led North Carolina State to 22-4 record. A native of Northridge, Cal., Burke is a two-time Capital One Academic All-America® third team honoree. The second-leading scorer for the No. 10 Wolfpack, she is averaging 15.0 points per game. A three-time member of the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team, she is the only player in school history to record three 50-block seasons. She is also the Wolfpack’s second-leading rebounder with a 6.3 average.
A first team All-Summit League selection last season, O’Connor is a health sciences (pre-dentistry) major with a 3.99 G.P.A. A three-year starter at guard for Missouri-Kansas City, she leads the team in scoring with a 21.3 average. An outstanding free throw shooter with an .869 mark, the San Francisco native made 22 of 23 free throws against New Mexico State in January, just one free throw shy of the NCAA record.
