NCAA Media Coordination & Statistics March E-Newsletter

See the March 2014 e-news edition from the NCAA Media Coordination and Statistics staff.

This newsletter is put together by the NCAA national office media coordination and statistics staff specifically for SIDs. This will typically come out the first Wednesday of the month.

If you have any comments or anything you would like to see in the future, please contact Mark Bedics (mbedics@ncaa.org). This is being sent to every email address that we have on file through the statistics sport databases.  If there is anyone else that needs to be added that did not receive it, please let us know. #OnThisDay Twitter Feature
The NCAA Media Coordination and Statistics staff has started a daily feature on our Twitter feed (@NCAAStats) featuring outstanding records/accomplishments from member institutions.

We are looking for your help to add to our database, particularly for single-season and career records and in sports we do not keep statistics for (wrestling, tennis, swimming/diving, track and field, etc.).  Specific information on the beginning and ending of individual/team streaks is also helpful.

Examples of the kind of info that isn’t readily available in our record books:
  • Feb. 23, 2010 – Philadelphia MBB head coach Herb Magee wins his 903rd career game to pass Bob Knight for first on the NCAA men’s basketball coaching wins list.
  • ????, 1977 – Chuck Delich of Air Force scores his 156th career goal vs. ??? to set an NCAA ice hockey record.
  • ????, 2001 – Jackie Stiles of Missouri St. scored ?? points vs. ??? to become the first Division I WBB player to surpass 1,000 points in season.
Please send submissions to Matt Holmes at mholmes@ncaa.org.
