Annual CoSIDA Scholarship Program


CoSIDA Members,

The final two CoSIDA Scholarship nomination periods are coming to a close soon.
Annually, CoSIDA offers both undergraduate and graduate scholarships to deserving young professionals looking to begin a career in athletic communication; offers one annual graduate internship grant to a member institution to help fund a graduate internship position for the next academic year; and, starting this year, offers scholarships to children of CoSIDA members who are undergraduates.

UPCOMING DEADLINE

• CoSIDA Fred Nuesch-Dave Wohlhueter Undergraduate Scholarships (two, $3,000 each)
Application deadline: Friday, May 2, 2014  No applications will be accepted or reviewed if dated past May 2, 2014.

Annually, there are two scholarships awarded to outstanding undergraduates working in media relations/sports information offices. They are named for former long-time CoSIDA secretary/digest editor Fred Nuesch and former CoSIDA treasurer Dave Wohlhueter, both CoSIDA Hall of Famers. Nuesch spent the majority of his SID career at Texas A&M-Kingsville, while Wohlhueter is retired from Cornell.


NEW SCHOLARSHIP!
• CoSIDA Member Child Scholarships (two, $1,000 each)
Application deadline: May 5, 2014  No applications will be accepted or reviewed if dated past May 5, 2014.

There are two $1,000 scholarships designed to assist an outstanding undergraduate student – the child of a CoSIDA member – who requires financial assistance with college scholarship funds for his/her education. There will be two $1,000 undergraduate scholarships awarded for the 2014-15 school year with a limit of ONE CoSIDA scholarship per family per academic year.

The candidates must meet the scholarship criteria and be the son or daughter of a current, dedicated sports information professional who has been a member of CoSIDA for a minimum 10 years. CoSIDA Family Member Scholarships will be renewable (on a competitive basis) for up to four (4) academic years. However, award winners must continue to meet basic qualifications and re-apply each year.
