New Media Committee Provides Unique View for #CoSIDA14

Dear CoSIDA Members,

Earlier this year, the CoSIDA New Media Committee created a YouTube (youtube.com/cosidanewmedia) channel dedicated to showcasing the video efforts of athletic departments from across the country and across divisions. We wanted to give CoSIDA members a look into some of the work being done by their counterparts in the area of digital content.  We have received submissions regarding best practices, how to's and even the most interesting way anyone as ever talked about compliance issues ... ever.

The challenge was to build up enough content to display in some way, shape or form during our annual convention in Orlando - challenge completed.

This week, thanks to Barb Kowal of CoSIDA and the staff at the Orlando World Center Marriott, a 40-inch monitor will display submissions from committee and CoSIDA members alike on a loop. The monitor will be located adjacent to the similarly sized Twitter monitor outside the main session rooms.

The videos range from student-athlete profiles, to tutorials from leaders around the social media industry, to behind the scenes series.  Some will make you think, some will make you laugh and definitely cry, but all will make you proud to be a part of this association and industry.

So as you are going from one panel to another, heading out of the session area to head to lunch or heading back to your room, stop for a moment and watch some of the phenomenal material, award-winning in some cases, that has been put together over the past year.

The next challenge is to have at least one submission from every school in every conference from every division by the time the 2015 CoSIDA convention comes around - challenge accepted.

In other news ...

This year members of the CoSIDA New Media Committee will serve as social correspondents throughout the week.  They will post, tweet, instagram, vine and snap about what they see and hear during the panels, meetings and maybe even receptions.

Any time you see a social post with the official #CoSIDA14 hash tag followed by #NM you will know that is from a CoSIDA New Media social correspondent.  Be sure to follow those hash tags all week and, even better, engage with the correspondents to build a dialogue about how you agree, disagree, etc. on the topic. Remember though, keep it social.

Enjoy #CoSIDA14!
