Student-Athletes Who Are Mothers: NCAA Feature Request

Student-Athletes Who Are Mothers: NCAA Feature Request

Brian Burnsed, a reporter with NCAA Champion magazine, is pursuing a feature for the magazine’s winter issue (January 2015) that will seek to paint a picture of what life is like for a student-athlete who doubles as a mother. He’d like to portray just how difficult that task can be and how strong the women are who are able to balance those demanding roles.

Burnsed wants to identify one athlete/new (or relatively new) mother to profile and wants the piece to highlight not only what she has accomplished, but what her teammates, coaches, administrators and others have done to lend a hand.

The NCAA Champion magazine staff understands that this is sensitive topic, but also an important one that they will handle with great care. To give you a better sense of what the finished product might look like, and the tone of the story, please see pieces like this, this and this.

If any of your student-athletes are mothers and are willing to participate in the story, please contact Brian directly by Monday, Oct. 6 at bburnsed@ncaa.org.
