Below is a letter circulated by the NCAA Media Coordination and Statistics staff to all sports information directors and CoSIDA members of NCAA institutions and conferences. From Thursday, Jan. 22 until Monday, Jan. 26, there will be a NCAA.org website outage as all web and statistical applications are moved to a new server.
Dear CoSIDA Members/Sports Information Directors,
We were recently made aware by the NCAA IT staff that all NCAA Web applications - including all statistical applications - are moving to new servers at the end of the month. During the migration process, all NCAA Web applications will be offline for three days.
Beginning Thursday, Jan. 22, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, all Web applications will be unavailable to the public, the membership and NCAA staff and is expected to continue through the weekend. All applications are expected to be fully functional by Monday, Jan. 26 at 8 a.m. Eastern Time.
During the outage, SIDs will not be able to access any of the statistics login pages to upload XML files or enter rosters and/or schedules. Additionally, we will not receive any files submitted through the auto-upload features of the website providers (i.e. PrestoSports or SIDEARM). Furthermore, users will NOT be able to access updated statistics reports through
http://stats.ncaa.org/rankings.
Stats WILL continue to be available on NCAA.com. However, our staff will NOT be able to update those statistics after Thursday, Jan. 22 until the outage ends.
If we receive word from our IT staff that the system is up and running before Monday, we will send notification that XML files can be submitted.
On Monday, Jan. 26, we anticipate a large number of files will be submitted into our database which will cause delays in posting the statistics. We ask that you be patient with the updated statistics that day as they will likely be posted much later than usual. At some point on Monday, we will send missing XML file reminders. If you receive a reminder, please submit the xml file, even if it was previously submitted.
We have notified both PrestoSports and SIDEARM about the outage, but it is your responsibility to ensure statistics from your game(s) are submitted on Monday, Jan. 26.
Finally, if possible, please DO NOT email your XML files to us throughout the weekend. If you know there is going to be a schedule conflict or some reason you cannot submit files on Monday we will take the emails, but if we get overloaded with hundreds of emailed game files, it will further delay the release of statistics on Monday.
While we know this is not ideal and is very inconvenient for all of you, we ask for your patience throughout this period. We will do everything we can to minimize the impact on all of you.
