Dear CoSIDA Division I members:
As the 2015 college football season kicks into high gear, we wanted to give you an early heads up on the launch of another program that will be of interest to your institution and its fans and alumni.
The USA TODAY Sports College Football Fan Index presented by Goodyear (
fanindex.usatoday.com,
#fanindex) launched on Oct. 1 and will continue weekly through the end of the regular season before a winner is unveiled on Wednesday, December 9.
Now entering its second year, the College Football Fan Index is a fan-driven weekly index that will measure the best fan bases in college football based on the social media activity of each program’s fan base, as well as on the results of weekly themed polls that look to rank the best experiences in college football—everything from the best tailgating and the best traditions to the best stadiums and everything in between.
Fan Index activity will be tracked weekly, with rankings released online each Wednesday (and in the print edition of USA TODAY each Thursday) following the end of the voting period for each week’s theme. The results will then be added up into a cumulative index at the end of the season.

All we ask of you in support of these new features is to keep doing exactly what you’re already doing: engaging with your fan base and letting them know how they can support your program. We’d appreciate it if you could let your social media and online news managers, as well as any other supporter groups, know about these new features, so that the support for your program can be represented as you’d want it to be throughout the season.
Thanks in advance for your time, and for your ongoing cooperation. If you have any questions about
The USA TODAY Sports College Football Fan Index presented by Goodyear, or about any of our other existing college football programs (i.e. the Amway Coaches Poll, Amway Fan Poll, etc.), please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely,
Tyler Kupper
