AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Karlie Schut of Northwestern College (Iowa) headlines the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Volleyball Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The CoSIDA College Division Academic All-America® volleyball teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
Schut was selected as the winner of the CoSIDA Academic All-America® of the Year award for the volleyball team.
A senior nursing major from Des Moines, Iowa,
Schut sports a 3.99 grade-point average. She helped the Red Raiders to a 24-8 overall record and a 12-4 conference record, placing fifth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Schut, a two-time NAIA All-American, put down a GPAC-leading 4.0 kills per set and reached double figures in 29 matches this season. She ranks eighth in the conference with a .263 hitting percentage and totaled 65 blocks, 30 service aces and averaged 2.4 digs per set. Schut posted 12 double-doubles this season and totaled 21 for her career.
The 5-foot-11 right-side hitter finished her career with 1,696 kills, 978 dig, 340 total blocks and 160 aces.
There are a total of six student-athletes with a G.P.A. of 4.0. The first team boast a combined G.P.A. of 3.98, while the second team has a combined G.P.A. of 3.94. The overall G.P.A. for this year’s team is 3.96.
Joining Schut on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team are
Chandler Gray of Union (Ky.) College,
Ashlee Harms of Midland University,
Taylor Harper of the University of Mobile,
Shannon Liewer of Peru State College, and
Mallory Livingston of Indiana University East.
Making up the CoSIDA Academic All-America® second team are
Cali Beyer of Clarke College,
Rachelle Chamberlain of Eastern Oregon University,
Rebecca Just of St. Catharine College,
Hannah Luedtke (Mid-America Christian University),
Bailey Nations (Mobile), and
Keri Tanking (Ottawa University).
Four members – Gray, Harms, Chamberlain and Tanking - of the CoSIDA Academic All-America® saw their respective teams participate in the 2015 NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
