AUSTIN, Texas – Senior outside hitter Maggie Kamp of Calvin College headlines the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Volleyball team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A business major with a 3.91 G.P.A., Kamp is a repeat selection as the CoSIDA Division III Academic All-American® of the Year award for volleyball. She is the first person to repeat as the CoSIDA Division III Volleyball Academic All-American of the Year since the honor became a Division III-only award in 2011. Maggie’s sisters Rebecca and Lizzie Kamp also earned CoSIDA Division III Academic All-American® of the Year awards during their respective playing careers at Calvin. Rebecca Kamp won the award in 2011 and Lizzie Kamp received the honor in 2012.
The CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
A senior from Orland Park, Illinois, Kamp was the 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Player of the Year. This year she picked up the third AVCA Division III All-American honor of her career, earning First Team All-American honors.
Kamp led the Knights with an average of 4.05 kills per set this season and she posted an attack percentage of .267 in the campaign. She also contributed 2.14 digs per set. Kamp led the Knights to a 30-4 record this fall as Calvin advanced to the Regional Finals of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. A four-year starter at outside hitter for Calvin, she helped lead the Knights to the 2013 NCAA Division III Volleyball National Championship and the Division III National Semifinals in 2014.
Kamp, a three-time honoree with second team recognition in 2013 and first team awards in 2014 and 2015, is one of four individuals to earn a repeat selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Volleyball team.
First team selection
Kara Seidenstricker of Wittenberg is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America® honoree. She was a first team selection in 2014 and third team pick in 2013. The senior from London, Ohio, is an education major with a 3.9 G.P.A. A 2015 AVCA first team All-American selection, Seidenstricker is a four-time AVCA All-American. The 2012 NCAA Division III Freshman of the Year, she is a three-time recipient of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Player of the Year Award. She helped lead the Tigers to the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship Match with an average of 3.03 kills per set. An outside hitter for Wittenberg, she recorded 3.74 digs per set with a .942 service reception percentage this season.
Junior
Sarah Szybist of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is on the first team this year following a third team selection in 2014. Szybist is a biomedical sciences major from Chicago, Georgia, with a 3.94 G.P.A. Szybist earned AVCA honorable mention All-American recognition in 2015 and 2013 to go with third team accolades in 2014. She led the Liberty League with 494 kills this season, averaging 4.15 kills per set.
Third team CoSIDA Academic All-America® honoree
Kayla Wheeler from RIT is a repeat selection following second team recognition in 2014. The graduate student from Clifton Park, New York, is a biomedical engineering major and pursuing her MBA with a 3.94 G.P.A. A team captain for the Tigers, she averaged 1.21 kills per set this season.

Karlie DiRuzza of Heidelberg, a first team selection, has a perfect 4.00 G.P.A. She is joined on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III volleyball first team by Kamp, Seidenstricker; Szybist;
Carolyn Bogart of Case Western Reserve and
Lauren Holt of Springfield (Mass.).
Second team honorees
Elizabeth Garrison of Muhlenberg,
Jayne Kessel of Hope and
Tori Wuthrich of MIT each hold a 4.00 G.P.A. The trio is joined on the second team by
Caroline Dupont of
Washington University (Mo.);
Lauren Hazekamp of Hope and
Sydney Miles of Emory.
Joining Wheeler on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III volleyball third team is
Becca Borquist of SUNY New Paltz;

Jenna Lodewyk (Calvin);
Katie Stouffer (Salisbury) and
Michelle Toro of UT-Dallas.
Of the 18 members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America ® Division III Volleyball teams, 14 of the honorees have a 3.90 G.P.A or better, with four achieving a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. The six members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America ® Division III volleyball first team maintain an average G.P.A of 3.95.
