CoSIDA Sets Membership Record This Week

What’s the saying? Records are made to be broken.

In the case of CoSIDA membership, the record number of 3,059 members last year was exceeded April 14 when Clint Burgi, associate athletics
director for communications and marketing at Utah Valley University, and his staff of assistant sports information directors Jason Erickson, Lorie Garnett and James Warnick pushed CoSIDA past 3,059 to our current total of 3,061.

"We are all so pleased that we are adding more members to our organization, as these newcomers and their student-athletes will truly benefit professionally from what CoSIDA has to offer," CoSIDA president Eric McDowell said. “With the convention just around the corner, it’s gratifying to know many athletic communicators see the importance of professional development and involvement in their association.”

The membership has grown steadily over the last five years, with record numbers of active members each year.

This is a great time to remind current and potential members that the NEW CoSIDA membership cycle will start July 1. The annual start date has been moved to July 1 from the former February 1 start date; membership period will now run from July 1-June 30 of each year.

. Anyone who wishes to nominate and vote for Capital One Academic All-America® teams throughout 2015-16 will need to renew or purchase their membership for the 2015-16 academic year beginning July 1.

It’s important to let the CoSIDA staff know when you change positions. Please send all job changes to Laurie Bollig at lauriebollig@cosida.com. She will update your affiliation and publicize the transaction on CoSIDA.com.

It is also important to keep your CoSIDA membership profile as up to date as possible so you can nominate and vote for Capital One Academic All-America® teams but also so you get important information from CoSIDA regarding continuing education opportunities, convention news, etc.

Membership questions should be directed to Laurie Bollig at the email above or by phone at 913.707.0365.
