A long-time member of COSIDA and a 34-year member of the UCLA sports information staff, Rich Bertolucci, 56, passed away this week after battling cancer.

LOS ANGELES - Rich Bertolucci, a valued member of the UCLA Sports Information staff for 34 years, passed away this past Tuesday, July 28, after a long battle with cancer. Bertolucci, 56, was surrounded by family at his home in Westchester.
A 1981 graduate of Santa Clara University, he was hired as assistant SID at UCLA right out of school in July of 1981. Bert, as he was affectionately call by his friends, was the media contact for many sports during his 34-year career, most notably men’s volleyball and men’s and women’s golf.
As Associate SID, he also served as managing editor of the football and men’s basketball game programs as well as Bruin Blue, the Athletic Department’s official newspaper/magazine.
Bertolucci is survived by Mary Ann, his wife of 25 years; daughter Juliet, a 2014 graduate of the University of Arkansas; his parents Frank and Joy; his sister Linda; his brother Dave; 14 brothers and sisters-in-law; and 25 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10750 Ohio Avenue, Los Angeles, 90024.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Rich’s name to the Wooden Athletic Fund through UCLA Athletics, the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Research Foundation, The Paulist Fathers (c/o St. Paul the Apostle Church) or an individual’s favorite charity or organization.
