USAToday Sports is providing the following college football information on the Amway Coaches Poll, the AFCA Coaches' Trophy and the Amway Fan Poll.
The information on the Amway Coaches Poll and AFCA Coaches' Trophy and Tour is directed to Division I athletic communications staffers who handle football media relations. All SIDs and fans are invited to participate in the Amway Fan Poll.
Dear Division I CoSIDA Members:
As we get ready for college football kickoff, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight one of the bigger platforms USA TODAY Sports operates in association with the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) that offers something for everyone – your institution, your program, your coaches and your fans.
It is the Amway Coaches Poll, the AFCA Coaches’ Trophy, and the Amway Fan Poll.
Amway Coaches Poll
The weekly release of the Amway Coaches Poll from USA TODAY Sports (
@USATODAYsports) keeps the coaches – and their expert opinions – in the national spotlight. The poll will continue to be released each Sunday around noon on social media, online, then in print on Monday. This tradition dates back more than 30 years.
Why is this important? It’s very important because the AFCA Coaches Trophy will be presented to the No. 1 team in the Amway Coaches Poll – and national champion – at the end of the season. It has been awarded to the Coaches’ National Champion since 1986 and made available to all Coaches Poll winners since 1950.
AFCA Coaches’ Trophy and Tour
We will be traveling the AFCA Coaches’ Trophy presented by Amway, to 10 key match ups around the country again this year. Similar to year’s past, if we visit your school, we will ask for your continued support to host the iconic Waterford® Crystal Football which has become the “Symbol of Supremacy in College Football™”.
If we come to your school, please be advised that executives from the AFCA direct these requests to the Director of Football Operations (DFO) first. Soon thereafter, our team will be in touch with your office to ask for continued cooperation in showcasing a trophy visit for fans this season. We provide staff to handle all aspects of the visit to minimize any extra work on your team.
Amway Fan Poll
Your fans now have a voice in the national debate as to who makes the top 4. Each week fans are encouraged to go to
fanpoll.usatoday.com and cast their vote. Polling will open after the Amway Coaches Poll is released each Sunday, and will remain open until midday (ET) on Tuesday.
