Celebrating National

Celebrating National "I Am A Mentor Day" on Jan. 14

This January, National Mentoring Month (NMM) marks its 15th year as a large-scale public awareness campaign. National Mentoring Month provides an opportunity to celebrate and honor the importance of quality mentoring programs and the role that mentors fill while also recruiting new supporters and volunteers.

The CoSIDA Mentorship Program began in July 2015 and we join the national NMM movement in acknowledging today - January 14th - as "I am a Mentor Day."

We invite more current CoSIDA members to join as mentors or mentees.

This new member benefit matches athletics communications veterans with those who would benefit from mentorship.

5215These seasoned colleagues are providing career advice, answering questions and talking about best practices in the workplace. The mentors and mentees are checking in via in-person meetings, texts and phone calls. The mentees enjoy meeting a more experienced professional and having them available to give advice and serve as a sounding board.

Andy Seeley, UCF assistant athletics director of communications and CoSIDA's first vice president, initiated the idea to begin the mentorship program. CoSIDA staff member Laurie Bollig, Director of Membership Engagement, is coordinating the program.

You can get more information on our CoSIDA Mentorship Program HERE. If you want to become a mentor or mentee, contact Bollig (lauriebollig@cosida.com or via her cell at 913-707-0365).
