CoSIDA Communications Forum Cancelled
A planned educational conference designed to focus on crisis communication – the CoSIDA Communications Forum – has been cancelled as a result of low registration numbers.
Planned for Aug. 2-3 in Portland, the Communications Forum was designed to bring a CoSIDA educational event into the western corridor of the country and feature top-level speakers. In developing the event concept, CoSIDA partnered with Brian Berger, who runs the Sports PR Summit each year in New York City, in helping organize a comprehensive agenda with high-profile speakers to offer training in crisis communications.
“Obviously, we are disappointed that our registration numbers dictate the need to cancel this event now for everyone’s planning process,” said CoSIDA Executive Director Doug Vance. “This is a new concept and the Board of Directors felt it was something we could roll out this year and, hopefully, be appealing. We appreciate Brian’s involvement and also the support we received in the planning process from members in the Portland area.
“We still believe the concept has merit to pursue going forward and the CoSIDA Board of Directors and staff will continue to explore this regional workshop model as a possible option in the future.”
