OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Samantha Murray '13, G'15, the Assistant Athletic Communications Director at Stevenson University, has received the Fall, 2017 NCAA Division III and D3SIDA Recognition Award.
The award, which is given jointly by the NCAA and the Division III Sports Information Directors of America, recognizes the best work by athletics communications directors portraying the Division III identity and student-athlete experience. It seeks to honor the best work, including news releases, feature articles, videos, blogs and other materials, produced by Division III campus and conference athletics communications offices.
Murray was recognized for a feature article she wrote in September profiling Stevenson sophomore women's cross country student-athlete Achol Odolla, a refugee from Ethiopia whose family settled in Baltimore.
For winning the award, Murray is eligible to receive up to $1,500 in credit to attend Division III Day at the 2018 CoSIDA Convention in Washington, D.C.
Murray is in her third year as the assistant athletics communication director at Stevenson after spending the previous two years as the sports information graduate assistant. She serves as the primary contact for 10 Mustang sports and is also a co-host on Stable Talk, the Stevenson athletic department's weekly podcast.
A 2013 graduate of Stevenson with a degree in Business Administration, Murray was a four-year standout for the Mustang women's basketball team, serving as team captain in her final two seasons. She went on to earn her Master's in Business Technology and Management in 2015.
