The CoSIDA Board of Directors, during its November meeting, approved a diversity and inclusion value statement on behalf of the organization. The statement will be posted on the CoSIDA website and included in future job postings.

The statement reads as follows:

“As leaders in the intercollegiate athletics landscape, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) seeks to foster and encourage environments that embrace gender equity, diversity and inclusion. As an organization, CoSIDA is committed to education, discussion, advocacy and programming to establish and sustain an equitable, inclusive and diverse culture within the membership and the institutions it serves.”

The statement was developed and recommended by the new Diversity and Inclusion Committee in an effort to clearly define CoSIDA’s commitment to establish standards of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

“The diversity and inclusion committee thought it very important to craft a value statement for our organization so that every member of our organization feels supported,” explained Jessica Poole (Vanderbilt), who serves as chair of the CoSIDA Diversity & Inclusion Committee along with being an At-Large Representative on the CoSIDA Board of Directors.

“We are an organization that is made up of members from different backgrounds and experiences and as a global organization it is important that we put an emphasis on creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive environment. As leaders in intercollegiate athletics on our individual campuses and conferences it is important for CoSIDA to lead in this area by providing resources, education and opportunities to spearhead dialogue on this important topic. The benefits to our membership, industry and athletics as a whole will be invaluable.”
