Kraig Kann will be a keynote speaker at the 2018 Convention and provide exclusive professional development webinars, videos and content for CoSIDA members, beginning in January 2018.
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has entered a year-long partnership with noted strategic communications and media consultant
Kraig Kann and the
Kann Advisory Group, as announced today.
With his background in executive leadership, broadcasting, TV, and as a strategic communications and media consultant, Kann will provide content on professional development, media relations, content management, and strategic and crisis communications exclusively for CoSIDA members. This professional development series will begin in January 2018 in the form of webinars, videos and social media content.
During CoSIDA's professional development and continuing education series, Kann will address the question of how to break through the noise and the communication clutter to get your brand noticed. He will focus on the importance of creative messaging, the impact of the media, and "why and how" to make the most of every public media and speaking opportunity.
"Because professional development is a priority for CoSIDA, we are constantly seeking impactful opportunities to help our members learn and grow in the profession. And, for that reason, we are delighted to have Kraig Kann and Kann Advisory Group partner with us for a series of presentations in 2018, including at the CoSIDA Convention," stated Doug Vance, CoSIDA Executive Director.
"His passionate, inspirational messages are powerful, loaded with simple wisdom, and will resonate with everyone in our profession."
Kann is the founder and managing director of the Kann Advisory Group, which provides strategic communications consulting in the areas of media, presentation, branding, marketing and events.
Kann's career includes a 17-year tenure in network broadcasting as the original studio host at the Golf Channel (1995-2011) before he completed a career pivot and entered executive leadership as the chief communications officer of the LPGA for five years - a tenure which culminated in unprecedented growth for the association. Kann also has done football and basketball studio host work for the SEC Digital Network.
Prior to joining The Golf Channel, he was a sports anchor in Missouri, Georgia, Florida and Michigan.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of elevating the CoSIDA brand and helping grow its membership through unique areas of professional development," Kann noted. "My goal is to take the organization's 'what' and help them present the 'wow.' I've always had strong passion for collegiate athletics and am ready to deliver in big ways in 2018."
Kann also will address attendees at the 2018 convention in Washington, D.C. during the kickoff breakfast presentation on Thurs., June 28. This begins "divisional day" at the annual convention, a day filled with content and presentations specific to each divisional level of the membership (Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, NJCAA, conference affiliation and U Sports.)
"During our 2017 CoSIDA Convention in Orlando, Kraig Kann made a lasting impact when he gave the opening address at our SIDEARM Sports Leadership Forum," noted Rob Carolla, 2017-18 CoSIDA President. "He is a dynamic presenter with extensive experience in strategic communications, personal and professional brand management, executive team coaching, team-building, and message and content development. His style and message resonated greatly with our Forum attendees, and we are pleased to enter an extended partnership with Kraig to address our full membership in upcoming webinars, professional development articles for CoSIDA.com and our CoSIDA 360 magazine, and as our keynote speaker at the June 2018 June CoSIDA convention."
At the 2017 CoSIDA Convention, Kann was the lead presenter at the SIDEARM Sports Leadership Forum presented by Learfield, speaking on "What's YOUR story?" as he challenged the Leadership Forum attendees to build their personal/professional brands and offered strategic communications insights and leadership advice for their professional growth.
"The chance to work alongside leadership at CoSIDA with the goal of increased attention for the organization and its members is a great opportunity for me and Kann Advisory Group. Through all parts of our new partnership, I'll push the idea that 'attention' for a school or organization is like currency and only earned by thinking bigger and working more creatively," Kann stated.
