Opportunities to attend the 2018 CoSIDA Convention next June 27-30 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center near Washington, D.C., will be available for all CoSIDA dues-paying members through an NCAA inclusion grant program and through CoSIDA’s annual attendance grant selection process. 

NCAA Inclusion Grant
The NCAA Inclusion CoSIDA Convention Grant presents a professional development opportunity geared towards the inclusion, advancement and retention of ethnic minorities within the field of media relations/communications. The grant will provide attendance at the convention, mentorship and leadership opportunities during the academic year.

June 27-30, 2018: CoSIDA Convention
August 2018: NCAA National Office Visit

The NCAA and CoSIDA will cover the cost of: hotel and travel accommodations to the CoSIDA convention; hotel and travel accommodations for a national office visit.

Grant recipients will also receive a complimentary CoSIDA convention registration, CoSIDA membership and CoSIDA mentor pairing for one year.

Eligibility
Two applicants from each division (I, II, and III) will be selected each year.

Identify as an Ethnic Minority (Male or Female).

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to intercollegiate athletics (specifically related to sports information/media relations), and support of advancing and advocating for diversity within athletic communications. 

Athletics communicators from Division I, Division II, and Division III with five years or less in the industry are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must complete the following:
• Brief essay (800 words or less) on how they demonstrate the qualities listed above as well as what they hope to learn at convention and the national office visit
• Submit one supporting letter of recommendation
• Resume

CoSIDA Convention Attendance Grant
The CoSIDA Convention Attendance Grant recognizes the unique circumstances of the association’s membership when it comes to attending a yearly convention by selecting 22 deserving members for attendance. Last year, two grants were approved and designated specifically for ethnic minorities in the profession.

You must be a current 2017-18 member to apply for the grant.

CoSIDA’s grant includes reimbursement of $1,000 in expenses related to travel, lodging and meals in addition to a complimentary convention registration. Networking opportunities at the convention and mentorship opportunities throughout the year are also available.

Step 2: Click on the "Contests, Grant Programs and Scholarships" banner
Step 3: Fill out your first and last name and in the "Category" dropdown, choose Convention Attendance Grant to fill out your application.
Note: This year, we are requiring your letter of application only; we are no longer requiring a letter from your supervisor as you apply for this grant.
