TOPICS

This will be a discussion on the importance of advocacy in our athletic communications profession, the importance of  CoSIDA members advocating for themselves and building their personal brand in order to set themselves apart from other colleagues when working with campus/conference management; and how CoSIDA as an organization is advocating for its members, working with external stakeholders (NCAA, NAIA, coaching organizations, etc.) to enhance and advance the profession.

Webinar attendees will be offered tips and advice on way to advocate for themselves and their profession on campus and with other external stakeholders.

We will cover three elements of advocacy:

• Self-advocacy: How members can take appropriate actions to represent themselves and advance their own interests

• Peer advocacy: Taking action to represent the rights and interests of someone other than yourself

• Systems advocacy: Taking action to influence social/work/political systems to bring about change for our group of professionals

Please ask your questions throughout the webinar and they will be answered.
Also, if you have questions in advance, send them to Barb Kowal, CoSIDA Director of Professional Development and External Affairs (barbkowal@cosida.com) and they will be forwarded to the presenters.
