Tooley Selected as KCAC Sports Information Director of the Year

WICHITA, Kan. — Katie Tooley from Ottawa University has been named Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year, the conference office announced Thursday. Tooley will be formally recognized at the Sport Management Conference, held on August 8 at York College. This is her third overall Sports Information Directore of the Year award, the first coming in 2009-10.

Tooley is in her 12th year as Sports Information Director at Ottawa University, covering all 25 athletic teams. She regularly updates the athletics website (www.ottawabraves.com), writes and distributes press releases to media outlets, compiles stats and archives team information, and is in charge of live streaming for the athletic department.

"Katie has made a tremendous impact with her knowledge of the field and her intense desire to fulfill her job responsibilities above and beyond," Director of Athletics, Arabie Conner said. "Her dedication and passion for her job is clearly evident in her work, the travel commitment to covering our teams, the late night game stories and media releases, and work on social media."

Tooley is a member of NAIA-SIDA and CoSIDA, with 20 publications earning NAIA-SIDA honors and two being named the best in the NAIA. Tooley has earned two Citations for Excellence in Publications in Division C for her combined men's and women's basketball media guides.

"Katie consistently involves herself professionally with the KCAC, NAIA, and CoSIDA giving our athletes opportunities to earn awards and recognition they were never considered for prior to Katie's arrival," Conner continued. "She has promoted the KCAC and Ottawa University by reaching out to media constituencies locally and beyond, including significant collaboration with various media outlets. Her work live-streaming our events and delivering a great product is exemplary."

Additionally, Tooley is on the city council for the City of Princeton, volunteers her time coaching youth softball and basketball teams, and helps out at the KCAC Softball Tournament.
