NCCU Athletics Communications Staff Receives Chancellor’s Award


6733DURHAM, N.C. – During North Carolina Central University’s annual University Conference on Aug. 8, signifying the start of another academic year, the Office of Athletics Communications at NCCU was presented with the Chancellor’s E-Squared Award.
 
NCCU Chancellor Johnson Akinleye recognized senior associate athletics director for strategic communications/SID Kyle Serba, assistant SID Kevin Buczek, and assistant SID/broadcast media coordinator Jonathan Duren for their collective efforts in enhancing the university’s overall brand by sharing the experiences of student-athletes, coaches and athletics staff during one of the most successful seasons in school history.
 
The award inscription reads, “In recognition of your unwavering and selfless commitment to delivering proactive communication strategies that embody North Carolina Central University’s Eagle Excellence.”
 
Serba is in his 23rd year as SID at NCCU, after two years as SID at the University at Albany (N.Y.).
 
Buczek has been at NCCU since March 2015. He has also served as SID at St. Andrews University and his alma mater Barton College.
 
Duren enters his third season at NCCU, and is a graduate of South Carolina State University.
