Attendees will need to register and can book a room at the Crowne Plaza Annapolis at CoSIDA's block rate.
CoSIDA is proud to introduce the first CoSIDA U Camp presented by Capital One for undergraduate and graduate student assistants and interns who are interested in exploring the athletic communications profession. This immersive, hands-on workshop will take place Monday and Tuesday, June 25-26, in Annapolis, Maryland, and will be held the days prior to the start of the 2018 CoSIDA Convention at the Gaylord National (in National Harbor, MD.)
The CoSIDA U Camp will take place at the Crowne Plaza Annapolis. (It
will not be at the site of the 2018 Convention - the Gaylord National.)
CoSIDA U is about our future. We educate educators and find our future as we work with college students, undergraduates and graduate students who are interested in our profession.
This new and unique CoSIDA U Camp event is an affordable learning and networking event with a schedule that includes: six June 26 sessions designed for students and athletic media relations interns, along with breakfast and lunch during the day-long sessions. Prior to the workshop sessions, participants will attend a Bowie Red Sox baseball game with a meet-and-greet picnic, with round-trip transportation to the game provided by CoSIDA. The affordable registration price for this event is $59.
The CoSIDA U Camp special nightly hotel rate at the Crowne Plaza Annapolis is $99 for a single or double room for Monday night, June 25. Tuesday night, the same rate will be offered for those who wish to explore historic Annapolis after the conclusion of the Camp.

"Throughout the year, our organization offers a wide variety of professional development events, programs and webinars and we are thrilled to offer CoSIDA U Camp," noted Rob Carolla, CoSIDA President and Director of Communications for College Football 150th Anniversary.
"We're inviting undergraduate and graduate student assistants and interns to attend and take a deep dive and work to survive our 'boot camp' about the career of an athletic communications professional. This is a hands-on, one-day immersion into the best practices of our field. Participants will have tremendous networking opportunities with fellow attendees and with the accomplished sports media relations professionals who will be leading the workshop. Almost as importantly, we have priced this to be very affordable for students."
"This is a wonderful opportunity for students interested in a career in our profession," said Eric McDowell, CoSIDA Past President and chair of the CoSIDA U Committee. "The Bowie Bay Sox event will be a great way to meet new friends with similar goals and interests. We have a big day planned at the Crowne Plaza, with panelists on topics that will educate and enlighten our attendees, giving them a taste of sports communications and leading them on the path to become a colleague in CoSIDA."
The camp begins Monday as attendees will be brought from the hotel to Prince George's Stadium in nearby Bowie, Maryland. "CoSIDA U Welcome by the BaySox" will feature a picnic and meet-and-greet event with speakers from the Eastern League franchise. Vans will depart at 4:30 and game time is 7:05 p.m. against the Akron RubberDucks. Game ticket, game notes and picnic are included in the registration. One lucky attendee will be selected for the ceremonial "first pitch."
Three panels take place on Tuesday morning, beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by a lunch and the final three sessions in the afternoon. Many topics designed for newcomers are being discussed with the CoSIDA U Committee and those will be posted along with presenters in the near future.
