CoSIDA Member Child Scholarships
(2 new recipients each year, renewable up to 4 total years - $1,000 per school year)

The CoSIDA Member Child Scholarship Program is designed to assist an outstanding undergraduate student who is the child of a CoSIDA member. Two undergraduate scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded each academic year, with a limit of ONE CoSIDA scholarship per family per academic year.
The CoSIDA Member Child Scholarship Program is designed to assist an outstanding undergraduate student who is the child of a CoSIDA member. Two new recipients will be selected each year to receive a $1,000 scholarship ($500 fall semester/$500 spring semester). Limit one award per family, per academic year.
The CoSIDA Member Child Scholarships are automatically renewable for up to 4 academic years, with the requirement that award winners continue to meet the basic qualifications of the award.
Past recipients will be contacted by the CoSIDA Scholarship Committee to verify full-time enrollment and minimum GPA requirements.
Requirements
1. The scholarship applicant must be the child of a current, dedicated sports information (media relations/athletic communications) professional who has been a member of CoSIDA for a minimum of 10 years.
2. The applicant must carry a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) for all high school OR college undergraduate work to date.
3. The applicant must be a high school graduate preparing to enter college in 2018-19 OR a current undergraduate college student who will be enrolled full-time in 2018-19.
4. The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) for the 2018-19 academic year.
5. The most recent transcripts of all high school OR college academic work must accompany a completed application.
Past recipients of a Member Child Scholarship do not have to re-apply for the award each year, as long as they have continuously met the original award requirements. They must verify (with transcripts) that they have continued to meet requirements when contacted by CoSIDA to renew the awards annually up to four academic years.
Past recipients of Member Child Scholarships who did not meet the requirements or did not re-apply based on previous scholarship procedures may re-apply to compete for one of the two new scholarships each academic year.
CoSIDA Undergraduate Scholarships (3)

Fred Nuesch Scholarship, Dave Wohlhueter Scholarships and the CoSIDA Scholarship

The CoSIDA Undergraduate Scholarship Program consists of the Fred Nuesch Scholarship, the Dave Wohlhueter Scholarship and the new CoSIDA Scholarship (unnamed). Nuesch, who spent the majority of his career at Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Wohlhueter, who is retired from Cornell, are both CoSIDA Hall of Famers. One complete application allows you to compete for alll three undergraduate scholarships. The scholarships, which are each worth $5,000 for the 2018-19 academic year ($2,500 fall semester, $2,500 spring semester) are designed to assist outstanding students in sports information (media relations/athletic communications) offices who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in sports information and require financial assistance for their education.
Requirements
1. The applicant must carry a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) for all undergraduate work to date.
2. The applicant must be classified as a junior or senior at their school for the 2018-19 year.
3. The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) for the entire 2018-19 academic year.
4. The applicant should take special care and give themselves ample time to provide accurate proof of financial need, including requested financial documents.
5. The applicant must have an interest in pursuing a career in sports information (media relations/athletic communications).
The undergraduate scholarships are not automatically renewable, but winning applicants as juniors do have the option to submit an applicant for their senior year.
CoSIDA Phil Langan Graduate Internship Grant
(2 institutional winners per academic year - $15,000 per school year)
Application Deadline: Thursday, May 10, 2018 (Midnight Pacific). No late applications will be accepted.
The CoSIDA Phil Langan Graduate Internship Grant Program is designed to assist member institution sports information (media relations/athletic communications) offices with funds to support the addition of a graduate internship. Two CoSIDA Graduate Internship Grants will be awarded for the 2018-19 academic year, providing $15,000 each for a 10-month appointment ($7,500 fall semester/$7,500 spring semester).
The winning schools do not have to designate the individual recipient of the award as part of the original application process. Prior to receiving the grant funds for the 2018-19 academic year, the school should designate to CoSIDA the name of the individual recipient.
One complete application allows you to compete for both graduate internship grants.
Phil Langan was a CoSIDA Hall of Famer who worked at Ithaca, Princeton and Brown. He passed away in November of 2009. He served CoSIDA as secretary-treasurer and Digest editor from 1972 to 1977.
Requirements
The applicant (CoSIDA member sports information director) must submit an application form along with a one-page “Declaration of Need” outlining the personnel structure of his/her sports information (media relations/athletic communications) office, including the following information:
• List of all paid athletic sports information employees (full-time, part-time, interns, graduate assistants, students) by position
• Number of varsity sports covered
• Reasons for requesting consideration for this grant
• Any additional support information
The interns selected by the winning schools must be college graduates. It is the hiring SID’s responsibility to see that the intern meets this criteria.
The intern’s name, address and social security number must be provided, along with an affidavit from the supervising SID verifying the intern’s commitment to the SID office, prior to the beginning of the 10-month appointment. Each $15,000 grant will be paid in two $7,500 installments, with the first sent approximately Sept. 15, 2018, and the second sent in January of 2019. A second affidavit must be submitted by the supervising SID to authorize the release of the final installment. Payment will be made directly to the individual hired by the SID office awarded the grant assistance.
An institution may receive a CoSIDA Phil Langan Internship Grant one time in any three-year period.
CoSIDA Phil Langan Internship Grants are available only to sports information offices without paid graduate interns. Applications must be complete and thorough to be considered.
CoSIDA Postgraduate Scholarships
(Langston Rogers Scholarship and Wylie Smith Scholarship)

CoSIDA Postgraduate Scholarship. Each scholarship is worth $10,000 for the 2018-19 academic year.
CoSIDA Postgraduate Scholarships are designed to assist outstanding aspiring graduate students in sports information (media relations/athletic communications) offices who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in sports information and require financial assistance for their postgraduate education.
The Wylie Smith Postgraduate Scholarship is named in honor of former CoSIDA Scholarships Committee chairman and long-time Sports Information Director at Northern Arizona University.
The Langston Rogers Postgraduate Scholarship is named in honor of former CoSIDA President, Hall of Famer, Trailblazer Award and Life Achievement Award recipient Langston Rogers, a long-time Sports Information Director at Ole Miss. The Langston Rogers Postgraduate Scholarship is designed to assist a rising minority or female student working in sports information (media relations/athletic communications) offices who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in sports information and require financial assistance for their education.
One complete on-line application will allow you to compete for each of the three CoSIDA Postgraduate Scholarships.
Application Deadline
All materials must be submitted on-line through the CoSIDA Scholarship Application system at CoSIDA.com, Friday, April 27, 2018 (midnight Pacific Time).
Requirements
1. The applicant must carry a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) for all undergraduate (and graduate) academic work to date.
2. The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student (6 credit hours per semester) for the entire 2018-19 academic year.
3. The applicant must have an interest in pursuing a career in sports information (media relations/athletic communications) and must be active in the sports information office at his/her graduate institution.
Terms and Conditions
1. Three CoSIDA Postgraduate Scholarships will be awarded for the 2018-19 academic year.
2. Only one CoSIDA Postgraduate Scholarship will be awarded per family, per academic year.
3. The scholarships will be allocated as follows: $5,000-September 2018; $5,000-January 2019.
4. Proof of full-time enrollment for a minimum of 6 hours each semester at the graduate school of the student’s choice must be submitted before funds will be released.
