Registration for the 2018-19 CoSIDA Mentorship Program has been completed. The deadline was June 15, 2018. However, if you would still like to participate and weren't able to sign up, contact Laurie Bollig at lauriebollig@cosida.com.
The brainchild of past president Andy Seeley, the mentorship program was launched in 2015-16. For 2017-18, the Board of Directors has given its approval for additional features and accountability.
Sign-up and Matching
- Separate mentor and mentee sign-ups were done through the CoSIDA member portal. Prospective mentors were asked for more detailed information about their career paths. Using this information, a biographical spreadsheet is developed and shared with those who signed up to be a mentee.
- Mentees had the option to select their top choices for a mentor based on the information included in the spreadsheet.
- Members could sign up as both a mentor and mentee separately.
Engagement
- Each mentor and mentee will be assigned times throughout the year to contribute questions or resource posts on CoSIDA Connect.
- Each mentor/mentee pair will be required to submit an update of their mentorship to CoSIDA staff every two months.
- Quarterly re-assignment of mentors and mentees will be conducted if necessary - i.e., a mentee or mentor is not fulfilling his or her obligation to the pair, is not a good fit, has moved on from the profession.
Feedback and Recognition
- Final feedback from every mentor/mentee pair due at the end of the academic year.
- Upon receipt of the feedback, mentors and mentees will be awarded a digital badge on their profile in Connect.
