CoSIDA Statement on Statistical Services

To Our Membership:

CoSIDA officers and staff met earlier this week in Indianapolis for their annual summer meeting at the NCAA office. As part of those meetings, productive discussions regarding the emerging changes in statistical program options took place, including how recent developments or decisions by service providers in this area are affecting our members.

Members of our staff also had direct conversations this week with Eric Foote of CBS Interactive regarding CBS StatCrew’s recent pricing policy adjustment. In addition, officers and staff met with Dave Worlock, Jeff Williams and others from the NCAA Coordination & Statistics staff to discuss updates related to the NCAA LiveStats software development that is underway with Genius Sports.

Our overall goal is working with our partners in this area to push for the best and most affordable options for our membership. We want to stress that our statistics software partners have been open to our discussions.

One priority includes trying to leverage our corporate partner relationships on behalf of our member interests. We will continue to pursue that approach with the understanding that our degree of influence has its limitations as corporate partners make their business decisions.

Obviously, this is a fluid situation and we want to be an open resource of advice and direction for our members. As it relates to stats software options or clarity, we encourage anyone who has questions to reach out directly to the service providers.
