CoSIDA to Debut Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division At-Large Program Specifically for Two-year Colleges, Canadian Institutions and Schools Not Affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA

Beginning May 7, CoSIDA will debut a newly-designed Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division, encompassing student-athletes from institutions not affiliated with the NCAA and NAIA.

“By creating a separate College Division for schools not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA, student-athletes from two-year schools and Canadian schools have a better chance to be recognized for their athletic and academic achievements,” Academic All-America Core Committee chair Mark Beckenbach of Ohio Wesleyan said. “All sports currently involved in the program will be part of the College Division.”

College Division nominees will advance straight to the national ballot, where members from two-year and Canadian institutions will vote for men’s and women’s Academic All-America teams.

Important dates for the College Division:
  • Nomination portal opens: Tuesday, May 7, 9 PM (ET)

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible: Two-year colleges, U-Sports (Canada) institutions, and any other institutions with national affiliations other than the NCAA or NAIA, such as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) or the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

What if I have dual affiliation?
Typically, you will nominate in the division in which that sport competes for a conference and/or national championship. For example, if your women’s basketball team plays in an NAIA conference, and/or competes for the NAIA championship, you would nominate women’s basketball student-athletes in the NAIA division, which begins in January. If your women’s basketball team competes for a championship in another affiliation, you would nominate women’s basketball student-athletes in the College Division at-large contest in May.

I’m at an NAIA school that is also affiliated with the NCCAA, can I nominate in both divisions?
No. You can nominate a student-athlete in either the NAIA or the College Division. You can’t nominate the same individual in both divisions.

What sports are eligible?
The College Division will be one at-large contest that will take place in the spring. Student-athletes from all the sponsored Academic All-America® sports are eligible. See above for the full list.

No Academic All-District® team will be selected.
Winners will be named to the College Division Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team, with an announcement scheduled for Monday, June 17.

When do I nominate and vote for the College Division At-Large team?
Nominations are open Tuesday, May 7, at 9 p.m. through Tuesday, May 14, at 9 p.m. Voting is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 21, and will conclude on Wednesday, May 29, at 9 p.m. (All times Eastern).

If I’m not a CoSIDA member can I still nominate?
No. Only current dues-paying CoSIDA members can nominate/vote for Google Cloud Academic All-America®. Memberships can be purchased at CoSIDA.com/membership.

Nomination Criteria
  • Nominations will be accepted only from current CoSIDA members, and members may nominate student-athletes only from their own institution.
The nominee must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
  • Nominees must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games when applicable.
  • Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale).  This MAY NOT be rounded up to 3.30, thus, a student-athlete with a 3.299 GPA is not eligible. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better both as an undergrad AND in graduate school.
  • Nominees must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at your institution and must have completed at least one calendar year at your institution. True freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible. Graduate students who are competing at a different institution than the one from which they earned their undergraduate degree are eligible even if they are in their first semester at the graduate institution.
