Whether it’s tweeting out what you learn while in Orlando, following along from home or using it to network, social media can add a lot to your #CoSIDA19 Convention experience.

To join in on the conversation during this year’s convention, follow @CoSIDAnews and use the hashtag #CoSIDA19.

Additionally, this year on the CoSIDA Convention mobile app (all pre-registered attendees received a June 4th email how to download/access the app) there is a Social Media wall. Tag your Twitter posts with the #CoSIDA19 hashtag and follow along with other attendees' posts.

The New Media Committee spoke with fellow SIDs to learn the best tips and tricks enhancing your convention experience with just a few taps.

On meeting people:
Social media during convention is super beneficial not only during but post-convention. It’s a great way to keep up with what is happening during the convention, but it is also beneficial in growing your network. If you meet someone at convention, follow them on twitter. It can help you keep in contact with them throughout the year and help you learn as well.  – Chelsey Chamberlain, LSU

Great way to engage with others there, share ideas and meet new people. Maybe something I tweet provides a different perspective for someone else who was there and vice versa. – Drew Wilson, Averett

To first-time convention attendees:
Take advantage of social during convention. It’s a great way to meet new people, grow your network and learn through the convention on what is the latest trends. I not only grow my network professionally, but I have gained so many friends as well that I can go to for anything. – Chelsey Chamberlain, LSU

Last year, I used social media to put together a group of newcomers so we could help each other figure out how to navigate the convention. Also made some really good friends in doing so! During the convention, made a bunch of connections on social that have helped me learn a ton in the last year. – Rixon Lane, Lander

Using it during sessions:
I try to tweet at least one thing that I learn at each session. Also serves as a nice reminder post-convention so I didn’t completely forget everything. – Liz Wacienga, Kentucky Wesleyan

Personally, I make notes of key points on Twitter to share with friends who aren't there and to remind myself of them later. – Wendy Mayer, CoSIDA Convention Programming Committee

A panel I was on made a special session hashtag to interact with those attending. It was a fun way to incorporate social media into the Q&A section of our presentation, but it also started an online conversation that continued throughout the week. – Katie Mucci, Missouri Valley Conference

Other Remarks:
It also publicly shows my university that its commitment to send me is worthwhile because I'm trying to maximize my experience to continue to develop no matter how long I've been doing this and that I'm bringing ideas back to execute in my department. – Drew Wilson, Averett

I usually follow along with the CoSIDA hashtag to see what others are talking about, especially if someone is tweeting from a session that I couldn’t attend. – Brian Lentz, Northwest Mississippi Community College

I’ve used social media throughout each convention to document things, great bits of info to remember and photos/videos of good times. – Mark Rivera, University of San Francisco
