The CoSIDA Board of Directors and the Academic All-America® Committee agree that student-athletes have lost many opportunities in the spring of 2020. The opportunity to be nominated for recognition as an Academic All-District® selection and an Academic All-America® selection will not be one of those things.

Based on the absence of most spring sports competition, the Academic All-America Committee has temporarily revised some rules and procedures for nominating student-athletes. These new rules and procedures are only in effect for the spring of 2020. The Academic All-America Committee will revert to the standard practices again in the fall of 2020 when the new academic year begins.

Reminder: Only current dues-paying CoSIDA members for 2019-20 are eligible to nominate student-athletes for spring 2020.

New Criteria and Maximum Nominations Per Sport
Please read carefully for revised rules and procedures:
  • All spring program nominations (baseball, softball, at-large, track and field/cross country and college division at-large) will be open during the same two-week period - Tuesday, April 14, Noon (ET) through Tuesday, April 28, 9 PM (ET).
  • Due to the low percentage of games completed this spring, each of these 2020 contests will be based on career statistics and achievements rather than this season only. Career statistics – not 2020 statistics – should be entered into the statistical boxes.
  • Nominations will be taken for projected key starters or reserves. No previous career minimums are required to nominate. However, because there are no minimums, the following institutional maximum number of nominations will be instituted for the spring 2020 contests:
    • Baseball (NCAA, NAIA) – 6 entries maximum
    • Softball (NCAA, NAIA) – 6 entries maximum
    • Men’s At-Large (NCAA, NAIA) – 4 entries maximum (same as current policies)
    • Women’s At-Large (NCAA, NAIA) - 4 entries maximum (same as current policies)
    • Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country (NCAA, NAIA) - 6 entries maximum
    • Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country (NCAA, NAIA) - 6 entries maximum
    • College Division At-Large (institutions not affiliated with NCAA or NAIA) – 10 entries per gender (same as current policies since College Division includes every sport offered by the schools)
  • GPAs will be required to complete a nomination. GPAs must be above 3.30 as an undergraduate student or above 3.30 in both undergraduate and graduate work if a graduate student has an existing GPA. We are informing you of the contest dates early to allow ample time to gather these GPAs prior to the April 14-28 nomination portal opening.

All-District and All-America Voting Information
Although the nomination portals will be opened for all spring contests during the same two-week period, All-District and All-America voting plus the team announcements will be staggered.
