Join two current athletic communications professionals (Chris Gonzales of Florida Southern and Scottie Rodgers of the Sun Belt Conference) along with former SID and current Fresno State Deputy Director of Athletics Meredith Jenkins for this discussion.
Part 1: Discussion on ideas and strategies to meet administrative expectations and dealing with the pressures to be productive in our current remote settings.
Part 2: How to use this time to springboard your career to a positive in upper administration. What have you done, what can you do now and what are you going to do differently in the future?
They will talk about the changing role of an athletic communications professional amid COVID-19 and how SIDs are adding value to their campuses as a whole; working with a university’s president and communications staff on important campus projects (campus video productions, admissions, student retention, 2020 virtual graduations and more). Additionally, Rodgers will speak on the Sun Belt initiatives on helping their members with storytelling and how to help your student-athletes, administrators and coaches get public recognition now with no competition or practice taking place.
