July is #CoSIDA2020 Educational Lounge Month
The numbers tell the story.
A huge thank you to all of our attendees, keynote speakers, panelists, moderators and corporate partners who helped us produce our highly-successful #CoSIDA2020 virtual convention from June 1-25!.
Learning Never Stops. Nimble is Our New Normal
Forced to recalibrate and shift our planning in early April from an in-person convention in Las Vegas, the CoSIDA Board, staff and especially dedicated and committed Convention Programming Committee refocused to provide this virtual event in two months of preparation.
While nothing can replace the in-person event, we are confident that our attendees - and presenters - gained an amazing amount of information and strategies in this virtual experience.
The Insights, Takeaways & Learning
Looking at the purely educational offering during this time: In 55 sessions with 49 hours of programming, we've spent the last weeks during #CoSIDA2020 focusing on:
- leadership strategies to elevate your value as an athletic communications professional;
- strategic and crisis communications in our current environment with CoVID-19 and social justice issues on our campuses and in our conferences;

- strategies to become powerful writers, storytellers and content creators;
- strategies in social and digital communications;'
- working more effectively with with the media;
- breaking stigmas to hire and work with people with disabilities and interact with student-athletes and fans with disabilities;
- tough talk on mental health and mental wellness;
- buiilding confidence and having bravery to face your fears to break through those barriers holding you back;
- NCAA Name, Image and Likeness issues;
- NCAA LiveStats;
- budgeting and staff resources;
- career enhancement, career advancement and job seeker advice;
- training the next gen of SIDs;
- the role of athletic communications in student-athlete recruiting;
- and so much more!
The programming focused on the unique opportunities and issues that we face in our current environment and provided ongoing opportunities to discuss emerging issues and best practices in communications with colleagues, industry leaders, Athletic Directors and Conference Commissioners and subject experts.
Thank you for joining us and being part of making #CoSIDA2020 the success it was!
On-Demand Is Your Best Friend
Remember that ALL OF THE SESSIONS from #CoSIDA2020 are on-demand. Please make sure to spend some time viewing those sessions you might have missed. We guarantee that each session will give you some strategies, tools and ideas to enhance your skills and help with work-life integration.
What's Next?
A short #CoSIDA2020 survey/evaluation will be headed your way June 29. Please take a few minutes to give your assessment and comments to assist our planning in future professional development and continuing education.
Looking ahead, CoSIDA will offer six Educational Lounge sessions on Zoom in July. These are popular elements of our in-person conventions, and like the virtual convention, we've scaled back the number of Educational Lounges in the 2020 virtual environment.
See the schedule here.
We'll also have some more professional development and continuing education sessions next month - stay tuned!
If all goes as planned, we look forward to seeing everyone in Orlando for our 2021 June CoSIDA Convention taking place Sunday-Wednesday, June 13-16 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.
